Participantwhen a user wishes to Edit an Event he’s posted, all of the form data is prepopulated EXCEPT for the Organizer field – which means if the user is not paying attention he/she’ll resubmit their Event with no Organizer, clearing that data from the listing.
Please tell me that this is not by design…?

MemberGood evening Douglas or Glenn and welcome back!
Thank you for reaching out to us. We apologize for the delay.
As you might have seen on our website, most of the team is away on a product retreat for the week, leaving only a handful of us to tackle support tasks. In other words, we are absolutely paying attention and we are tackling our customers threads as fast as we can.
You’ll be glad to know that the team should resume to it’s normal size by the next 2 days.I would love to help you with this topic.
You are making a great point about the event organizer.
You are 100% right, if somebody does not pay attention, they can totally submit an event without an organizer.By design, as you know, you could add a default organizer. But I am pretty sure, in your specific case, what you would be looking for is to make the organizer field a required/mandatory field.
The good news is that through customization, you can absolutely tweak what the required fields are.
You might want to read our Themer’s guide (if you haven’t already) to get a general sense of how that works.
Other than that, you could get started on the right track by reading the following knowledge base article on that very topic: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/required-fields-for-events-submission-form/
One disclaimer though, the knowledge base article has been flagged as requiring an update (which should be addressed over the next couple of weeks). So at best, it should only serve as a starting point for now.
I wish I had a better answer for you, but for now it’s the best one I have.
Let me know how that goes.
Best regards,
Geoff B.March 9, 2016 at 2:24 am #1086570Dirk
ParticipantHi Geoff B,
Thank you for anwsering the questions. But I don’t think we’re both referring to a newly submitted event.
The problem is that when someone edits an already existing event on the frontend (community) the organizer is blanked out while it was set during the initial creation.
Cheers!

MemberGood evening Douglas,
Sorry about the misunderstanding. My bad.
I was able to reproduce the issue you are talking about and this is a bug.
In fact, there was already an internal bug ticket for it.Unfortunately, I cannot commit to a release date at this point. But stay tuned, you will be contacted as soon as there is a resolution!
Our apologies for the inconvenience in the meantime.
Best regards,
Geoff B.

MemberHello,
Thank you for reporting this issue. We weren’t able to get a fix for it into our upcoming release (4.1). However, please know that the problem is still on our radar and is ticketed within our system to be addressed in a future maintenance release. We’ll do our best to keep you posted when we are able to get a solution in place. Thank you for your patience while we improve and expand our plugins.
Best,
