GuestHi,
our team is evaluating different calendar solutions for am higher ed website. One of our requirements is to be able to have multiple event editors who have access to just a subset of categories. For example, an editor in Admissions should only be able to post/edit events in the corresponding taxonomy/category. At the same time we would like to grant department admin access to people who could create new subcategories under their main category (i.e. Open Houses under Admissions), and maybe grant access to other editors in the same department.
We would like to understand if TEC Pro is a good fit for our business requirements, and what approach would you recommend.
Thank you,

ParticipantHi Gerlando,
I believe I understand what you are asking. I think it might be pushing the limits of how our plugin and add-ons are designed though. Our Community Events add-on could be part of a solution https://theeventscalendar.com/shop/wordpress-community-events/ Perhaps a combination of that along with categories/tags for events would meet your needs. But I’m not sure it would have the robustness you might require in a higher ed setting.
Could you look the Community Events add-on and let me know your thoughts? Does it sound adequate for your use?

GuestJulie,
thank you for your quick reply and for suggesting your Community Events add-on. Let’s say we setup a MU environment, where each department has its own events, administrators, editors and so on. How hard would it be to have a ‘network-wide’ view of the events to be listed via The Events Calendar? That might solve some of our problems, along with the add-on.
Gerlando.

ParticipantHi Gerlando,
The Events Calendar, and the Community Events add-on, aren’t designed that way. There’s no “network-wide” view of events possible. Sorry that not going to be an option for you.
Is this something you could approach from another direction? Say custom roles? It’s crossing over into customization, but I’m not sure the plugins or add-ons are going to give you what you want.
