ParticipantHi Brook,
Well, you asked me if I am all set and I am not certain at this point π I wanted to reply, but apparently you already closed our last dicussion, no offense though.
My last question is about the possibility of duplicate links in Google Search Results. As said, I have set the Event List Pro widget in my footer, displaying 3 events, perfect.
Today, I also set an Event List Pro widget in my TEC sidebar, thus displaying upcoming events on the TEC category and single event pages.
However, when I test a single page event URL like this one in the Google Structured Data Testing Tool, I see that there are 9 hcalender entries; there are 5 events visible in my sidebar, 3 events in my footer and of course the single event itself.
Of course this does not have to be a problem (resulting in duplicate events in Google) when Google filters the events that are similar with the exact same URLs.
My question to you, what is your experience with the duplicate events visible on one page? Do you recommend to delete one Event List Pro widget to avoid duplicate links? Or do you think Google is smart enough to recognize there are events alike, thus not displaying them separately?
Thank you in advance!
Best regards,
Bark

ParticipantHey @Bark,
I’m not Brook, but hope you don’t mind me jumping in to answer! π
It seems like the core of your question is this:
My question to you, what is your experience with the duplicate events visible on one page? Do you recommend to delete one Event List Pro widget to avoid duplicate links? Or do you think Google is smart enough to recognize there are events alike, thus not displaying them separately?
Having the extra widgets and footer links to events and such should not be a problem. Google’s indeed smart enough to only serve up the links that are appropriate; and also, one thing to keep in mind is that the tools like the “Structured Data Testing Tool” and stuff are not hard-and-fast perfect things βΒ they just do a basic pass over the data supplied, and offer up suggestions.
So if every page on your site is not 100% perfectly cleared in the Structured Data Testing Tool, do not worry.
Does this address all of your concerns? If not, let me know!
