Is the php-calendar extension required or recommended for sites with The Events Calendar? Required or recommended for datepickers?

We will upgrading our PHP version, and I don’t want to include php extensions which aren’t needed. In testing so far it doesn’t seem to be needed. However, if it only matters in specific situations, or isn’t necessary but will improve performance, I wouldn’t be able to tell.

Good evening Susan and welcome back!

Thank you for reaching out to us.
I would love to help you with this topic.

Normally, our plugins operate great on vanilla versions of PHP.
There is no documentation of the php-calendar extension being required for the Events Calendar currently.

That being said, if you can, it is always best to be able to test this on your staging server before deployment on your live site.

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.
