ParticipantI’ve been trying to wrap my head around this using this help page:
I know how to make an additional field required. however I have 5 additional fields created that all make up one section called “Genres”. I have been trying to make that entire section required by using _ecp_custom in the functions.php. Where the help page it refers to shortcuts that can be used to make and entire field required, is _ecp_custom not a shortcut?
In a previous thread i was told that I should look at square bracketed/array field to accomplish this, but i really can’t figure out how. I was hoping that that it would function the same way tax_input functions where I have multiple categories and the user only needs to select one. Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

ParticipantHey Kevin,
Thanks for reaching out to us!
Would you mind sending a screenshot of your current field section that you would like to make required? Want to verify that I’m fully understanding the direction you’re wanting to go.
Also, looking at the knowledgebase item you reference, I see that we do have some notes for that one requiring some updates and potential code need changes. We’ll look into that in conjunction with this thread to ensure that it continues to be a solid starting point for customizations such as these.
Thanks!

ParticipantThanks Josh, here is are a couple of screen shots for your reference. one is the front end and the other is the Additional Fields Setting page. The problem i’m having is that each field (with the exception of the Terms of Use Field at the bottom) makes up a single section called GENRES. Each one of my events falls under at least one of these, so to organize them, it’s important that I make the GENRES section a required field. but allow the user to only select one if needed. hope that makes sense.

ParticipantHey Kevin,
Thanks for providing those screenshots!
I think I understand what you’re looking for here now. To clarify, you’re wanting to have the “Genre” section “required” in that at least one of the fields within that section needs to have a genre selected?
I’ll take a look through the current tutorial today to review the status of the current approach provided there. However, this particular customization may be a bit beyond what we’re able to provide in support here. After digging in a little further, I’ll follow up with any recommendations to help get you pointed in the right direction for a solution here.
Thanks!
