ParticipantHi,
I posted this about six weeks ago and didn’t receive any answer at all – really disappointing since it was the the first time I’ve asked for support, just after upgrading to PRO. So I’m trying again. If you don’t understand my question, or if it can’t be done, please at least tell me.I am using an Additional Field option on my event listings for providing a link to the event’s own ticket URL I used your tutorial https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/url-as-word-button/ to change the external event URL to text, and I’d like to do the same for the ticket link but I can’t figure out how.
(Incidentally, I put the url-as-word modification into the top of modules/meta/details.php file because I didn’t want to change my theme’s functions.php and it seems to work ok, so I’d want to do the same for the pro/modules/meta/additional-fields file)
I can’t do any coding from scratch, but I’m quite comfortable following instructions to edit files.
Thanks for your help,

KeymasterHi Jane,
Thanks for reaching out!
I’m not sure what went wrong with your initial thread, but I’m so sorry that you didn’t hear back! This change could be made with a customization, but just to make sure I understand what you’re looking for here, do you want the same text to display for the ticket links on every event (for Example “Buy tickets”), or would you need to enter the text that you want to display for this field on each event?
We are limited in the amount of support that we can provide for customizations, but I’ll be happy to at least point you in the right direction on this 🙂
Thanks,
Jennifer

ParticipantHi Jennifer,
Thanks so much for getting back to me, and I see now that I had asked for something that you don’t support – so huge apologies for bugging you. If you can give me any pointers, that would be great. I would just like to use the same text each time – e.g. “Buy tickets”.
Thanks

KeymasterHi Jane,
Thanks for clarifying! You are certainly not bugging us…we do try to help out with things like this when we can, and we are always here to answer questions 🙂
Try doing a template override of the additional-fields.php file found at wp-content/plugins/events-calendar-pro/src/views/pro/modules/meta. For your copy, use this template. You’ll need to replace “your url field” on line 21 with the name of your field (it looks like this will be “Online booking” in your case). If you want to add some additional styling, you can add your own CSS class to the “< a >” tag on line 23.
Let me know if you have any questions!

ParticipantHi Jennifer,
Thanks so much for this – all sorted! It makes the site look so much tidier, I’m really grateful to you.Sorry for not replying immediately, I’ve been tied up with GDPR deadline stuff all week and have only just had a chance to get to it.
Best wishes,

KeymasterHi Jane,
I’m so glad to hear that worked for you! I definitely see where you’re coming from in wanting to change the display of the URL. If there is anything else that we can help with, please feel free to open up a new thread!
Thanks,
Jennifer
