Replace all references to Events with Courses

Good morning/afternoon/evening (delete as applicable :))

My client would like all references to ‘Events’ on the front-end replacing with ‘Courses’. For instance:
Upcoming Courses (list view)
Courses for February 2016 (month view)
COURSES FROM (list view search bar), COURSES IN (month view search bar) etc.,
FIND COURSES (button)
etc…

I imagine the word ‘Events’ spans multiple .php files and any edits would have to be placed in a child theme to prevent being overwritten when an update is downloaded, but other than going through all the .php files in turn and making the changes, to you know a more efficient way I might achieve this?
