We have several recurring events, sometimes those events happen 2/3 times in one day, so the same recurring event is duplicated multiple times as well.

Now, with about 20 total recurring events being generated for a time of 2 years, it’s making things confusing in the backend for clients to manage a single event if anything changes for that event, since there are so many duplicate copies.

Is there a way to make auto-generated events less than 2 years even if the end date is set to “never”.

The events aren’t gonna end, just want to make sure there’s not a cluster of 12,000+ events that exist in our DB at all times.

    Hi, Ranjan.

There are 2 things you could do for this situation:

    1)

Use this snippet to change the display in wp-admin:

    https://gist.github.com/cliffordp/81f23a207ab483c9e7c6d910f9b29c0a

    2)

If #1 isn’t enough, you could also go to wp-admin > Events > Settings > General tab and change the “Create recurring events in advance for” option to something less than the default “24 months”

Please let me know if you have any follow-up questions on this topic.

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
