Reoccuring events setting overides 'include in main blog loop' setting…

We use ‘Include events in main blog loop’ to put event into our theme.

When we toggle on ‘Recurring event instances’ show only the first instance of each recurring event (only affects list-style views).

then the start date goes back to being the posted date, not start date.

Bonus points:
It would be great if the start date and end date where just added to the query so we could sort by them and then add the existing functionality in also to overwrite publish date with start date.
