ParticipantI might have a big problem with SEO and google indexing and penalties.
I made reoccuring events fitness classes 2x per week till July 4th this year.No they are indexed and while searching they score very good (after being perfected with the help of Yoast SEO in my avada theme).
This is too good because in this test 1 event showed up with 2 different dates on page one.So i will have a problem with duplicate content and google SEO panalties !?
So my questions are;
– Should I have made each reoccuring events as NOFOLLOW (no setting in your plugin?
– How to avoid duplicate page panalties?
– What happens with indexed pages after they are deleted after 1 mont after the actual event took place (that is my setting in the plugin)?
– How to correct this problem NOW in the future?Gr,
Peter

MemberHi,
Thanks for using our plugins. I can help out here.
First we are not SEO experts and not able to provide SEO advice on how Google will react to the content of your site. In the end you will have to make determinations based on what you think is best for your site and what your goals are.
Our recurring events include structured data so that Google can tell it is a series of events tied together. Does that create a duplicate content penalty? It does not appear to, the dates are different and the structured data is there to inform Google it is a series we do not have reports of people saying Google is penalizing their site for recurring events. Nor could I find an article that this is a bad practice.
I would look to get information about your site from Google Webmaster Tools and see what they say about it, otherwise we are just guessing. As you said you might have a problem, but there is warning or red flag to say there is a problem.
Also, we ship the coding as is and we only fix the coding if Google is not reading the structured data correctly. Beyond that you would have to customize the templates following our themer’s guide to produce the results you would like.

Let me know if you have any follow up questions.
Thanks
