ParticipantHaving some strange issues with the Plugin EDD Tickets.
I’ve created an Event and the Event itself has 4 different ticket types.
One ticket for lunch, one ticket for dinner, one ticket for the actual Event and one ticket for a visit at an office. Each ticket could be seen as representing a “sub-Event” at the actual Event that has been created in the Event Calendar. The attendee can choose any combination of which tickets they want to have.
Now to my strange problem:
One user/attendee had mistakenly entered two tickets for each of the ticket types, which in total in his “order” is 8 tickets (4 ticket types times 2 tickets per type).
Now he asked me to remove one of each ticket type, so that it would only sum up to 4 tickets (one of each ticket type).I go into the attendee list from the Event in the back-end of the system.
There I see the Event Summary and the Ticket Sales.
I see the order number for the person who made the mistake. Clicking the order number, takes me to a view where I can see the “Payment” for the actual order number.
It shows the customer name etc.Below I see the Purchased Downloads. There are 8.
I tried to click the REMOVE link and then they disappeared form the list. But when I go back to the Event Attendee detail list, it still shows all the “tickets” that user bought. I would assume that this view would show the actual tickets that registered for that attendee, having had the tickets removed here too. Instead, I see all the eight.
Also, it still has the total counting set wrong, since it does not seem to be subtracting those tickets that I REMOVED in the actual order for that attendee/customer.
I am using the plugin wrong or is it actually something not working correctly with the plugin?
I fear that if this happens to more attendees, I will have a mess trying to sort out how many tickets I actually have available. 🙂
Appreciate help!
Sincerely,

MemberHi Andreas,
Some great questions there.
Removing downloads from the ticket doesn’t actually annul the order itself; nor is there currently a two-way link between the download object and the attendee’s presence on the attendee list. I’m not actually sure at this point if it would make sense in every case to facilitate this and think the best course of action here is to post a feature request detailing how you would like the system to behave in this situation.
As well as giving other users a chance to show their support for the idea, it also means they can share any concerns (if for instance it would stop them from doing something else).
In terms of actually working around situations like this, cancelling the order and asking the customer to resubmit – or using any addons for EDD that let you manually build orders, perhaps – is probably the best approach.
Also, it still has the total counting set wrong, since it does not seem to be subtracting those tickets that I REMOVED in the actual order for that attendee/customer.
True, and that is connected with the above. However, if you cancel or refund the entire order I believe the count will be adjusted at that point.
Does that clarify things at all?

ParticipantHi Barry,
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer!
Reading through your response, I get the feeling and impression that I might be using the plugin in a way which it is not intended to be used. Maybe this is the reason why I have encountered these issues. 🙂I think that what I actually am looking for, is an Event registration system, where users/attendees first registers, then there would be a ticketing system as a second step that provides tickets. In a way, it could actually be seen as one whole solution in a ticketing system, but then such system (plugin) would need to function in a way where parts of an “order” would be impacted by a cancellation (refunded) ticket in that order.
I’ll look into posting a feature request. 🙂
Again, thank you for taking time to answer!Sincerely,

There’s an element of that, but also EDD Tickets is a young plugin and it’s when we receive feedback like you have provided – based on real-world usage – that we really start to build a picture of our customers’ needs and expectations.
I would say that, as with all of our ticketing plugins, the emphasis on our side has been on building a simple and robust ticketing solution (but not a fully fledged event management tool) that interferes as little as possible with the operation of the underlying ecommerce engine, in this case Easy Digital Downloads.
So things like you have discussed present a sort of mini-conundrum: I definitely understand what you’re trying to achieve and see the benefit. However, I also see that this could interfere with or at least would need to be backed by a fairly complex implementation if it was to tolerate some different customizations that others may wish to put in place, such as associating other downloadable items with their orders (like an event brochure).
With all that said, please do post as many feature requests as you like and/or continue to provide feedback here – we are listening and it really does help us to shape the direction of plugins like this one 🙂
