ParticipantI removed an event from the WSMS Calendar in (Parent Movie Night on March 3rd) in my google calendar but I see it’s still appearing on the calendar on my website. – http://staging.wsmsnyc.org.s167849.gridserver.com/calendar/?tribe-bar-date=2017-03 .How will adding and removing events work with this calendar?

ParticipantHey Diane,
Thanks for reaching out.
Are you using Event Aggregator to import from Google Calendar?
If not, how specifically are you linking the two calendars?
Thank you!

ParticipantYes I am using Event Aggregator

ParticipantThanks for confirming that, Diane.
With Event Aggregator, you can specify exactly how changes on the external/”origin” calendars (like Google Calendar, in your case) are handled by the WordPress site itself in the “Update Authority” settings found in Events → Settings → Imports.
However, regardless of the Update Authority settings, deleting an event on Google Calendar will not delete its WordPress version once it has been imported in WordPress.
Please let me know if this helps and there are any other issues or questions I can try to help with!

ParticipantSo how do I get the “Parent Movie Night on March 3rd” event off my calendar?

ParticipantHey Diane,
Thanks for your followup. If there are events on your WordPress site that you don’t want to show up, the best option is to delete that event from your WordPress site. If it is an event that’s been imported from a Google Calendar, for example, then the “Delete” button should instead say “Hide & Ignore”, which effectively does the same thing as deletion.
Please let me know if this helps and if there are any other issues or questions I can try to help with!

Participantso if I want to add a new event, should I go through that same way on the Events tab and just “add new” instead of adding to my google calendar? It’s a little bit more work not having the google calendar and the website calendar connect in real time, but if that’s the best way to do it I can work with it.

ParticipantHey Diane,
If you just want the new event to exist on your wordpress site, then sure, you could just add it right within your wp-admin.
If you want it to exist on both your WordPress site and your Google Calendar, then adding it on Google Calendar first and then importing it into WordPress would make more sense.
If you just prefer creating it in Google Calendar, then importing it, then by all means do it this way. But just note that deleting from the Google Calendar will not delete it from the WordPress site — the only delete an event from your WordPress site is to go into the wp-admin of the WordPress site and delete it (or “Hide & Ignore” it).
I hope this helps!

ParticipantHere is how I would like my calendar to work:
– Create all my events in google calendar (I do not want to do anything from wordpress dashboard)
– Having all my created events show up on my wordpress site (even if I delete an event from google calendar) – http://staging.wsmsnyc.org.s167849.gridserver.com/calendar/Is that not possible?

ParticipantThat’s totally fine Diane.
There is just one thing not possible: If you want it so that when you delete an event from Google Calendar, it’s automatically also deleted from WordPress, this is not possible at all. The event would have to be manually deleted from both locations.
