Remove "category" from permalink structure

Found a solution posted a few years back, but it doesn’t work. Possible to revisit this and get a solution once and for all?

Unfortunately, there’s no straightforward solution to this topic. That would require some heavy customization which is beyond the scope of this support. However, I would recommend you to add your vote in our UserVoice: someone already suggested we remove /category/ from urls. The more votes it gets, the more chances this becomes a new feature 🙂

Thanks, but that thread has been around for 4 years, so I won’t hold my breath.

I figured out a workaround, and have actually got my categories at the top level now. domain.com/music for example.
