Related Events – Show Events With Same Tag

Hi guys,

The “Related Events” for my site are showing random events that are not really related to the event that is shown. Is there a way that I can control what events are shown? We have six different categories, and within each category there are several different tags. I would like to show, at a minimum, related events by category (each different trail we have is a category), and preferably show them by tags (the different divisions for each category). Is this possible?

Showing them by upcoming date would even be better than the way they are showing now – example: http://www.usafishingtrails.com/event/lake-amistad-bud-light-trail-del-rio-division-1/. They are all over the place.

Unfortunately the functionality you seek is unavailable “out-of-the-box” – but we are always looking for new ideas added under our UserVoice Feature Ideas page.

Another option would be to look into tribe_get_related_posts function. Hopefully this information points you in the right direction.
