I just added the Events Pro to my site so I could use recurring events. It does not appear that the recurring events are working properly. For instance, I have an event called “Parent & Child Class 6-12 months Friday” which is supposed to start Friday Feb 17 and reoccur every Friday except one (Feb 24) until and including Friday April 14. On the front end of the site, using the event list view, the event shows up on Fridays but out of order, and in the calendar view, it shows up every day, and multiple times on many days. Clearly this is not working correctly.

I have also set it up to pay for this event series using your Ticket Pro plugin, but it shows this event as free, not the $250 I put in. I do have WooCommercce installed.

Hopefully I am simply doing something wrong, as it seems that this plugin is totally failing, which is hard to believe given your high ratings!

    Thanks,
    Rich

    Howdy Rich,

I would love to help you with this.

Thank you for sharing a link to that event. I see that you have set it to not be a recurring event for now.

When this was a recurring event, do you recall what the End date was? Was the End date on Friday Feb 17th, or was it in April?

Something that can be a bit confusing is that the end date should typically be the same day as the start date. If you set the end date to be in April, then you have create a single event which starts in February, runs for a couple months and ends in April. If you set this event to recur every Friday, it will create a new event each Friday, and this recurrence will also last two months. Thus you will have two overlapping events that happen each day of the week. By the third Friday, you will have three overlapping events…

The solution to this, is to setup the first occurence of your series to start and end at the proper times, which typically spans a few hours on one day. After this first occurence is setup properly, add more events using the recurring feature. Each subsequent recurrence will mimc the pattern of the first one, lasting only one day and at the same times. Does that sound like the problem you might be facing?

    Cheers!

OK, I will give this a try and report back.

OK that seems to work better, but how do I show this as the same event, not separate events (like a single class that meets every Friday)? This is especially a problem if the user clicks on the See All (events in the series) on the event page and they are listed for each date as a separate event (an not in date order, which is also a question in the list view.

    Howdy Rich,

I am glad to hear that helped.

OK that seems to work better, but how do I show this as the same event, not separate events (like a single class that meets every Friday)?

The only way an event can span multiple different times is for it to be recurring. A recurring event is similar to multiple events, but they are all linked together. Users of the site can view a list of all of these linked events using the “See All” button you mentioned.

We are working to make  a series of events more closely linked together. One thing that is the planning stages is a revision for the See All page. Rather than it being a typical WP archive page, which shows the title and brief description for each recurrence, we would like to make to remove all of the redundancy and beautifully list each time & date the event takes place alongside a unified description.

We also are going to add an alert that indicates when recurrences overlap, to help make this a little more intuitive and help folks avoid the issue you initially had.

Please let me know if you have any more questions or concerns. I want to help get this setup properly for you.

    Cheers!

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics.
