ParticipantHi,
We just purchased EC PRO so we could have recurring events functionality. I was hoping I could attach some gifs here to better demonstrate my point, but I’ll explain the best I can. Recurring Events works, but not in the most efficient manner, and I’m hoping you can provide a fix or workaround for this. We have a recurring event every other Wed. and Saturday – period. The problem is, I don’t see a way to simply create a recurring event WITHOUT necessarily generating a start/stop date & time. In other words, I want to create a Wednesday event, from 2:00 until 4:30 – one entry (event) that’s it. Instead, what I’m seeing is 52 entries, all identical, except with respective Wednesday calendar dates (which we don’t want or need). Is there any way to disable the start/end date/time requirements?
Thank you, and please CC [email protected] on any follow up posts

ParticipantHi Lisa,
I don’t know if I fully understand your dilemma but is it that you just need to remove the start/end time from displaying from certain events? You can do that by editing the template files and we have two great articles on that topic:
https://theeventscalendar.com/faq/what-are-template-overrides-and-how-do-i-do-them/
https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation/events-calendar-themers-guide/I hope that helps!

ParticipantHi Jonah,
It’s John, actually, I’m just logged in as Lisa. Let me see if I can explain a little more clearly. It’s not the times we want removed, it’s the dates. EG: we have a recurring event every Wednesday. I want to make *ONE* event that describes “this event happens every wednesday.” But I *have to* create a start and end date for the event. So, because I have to do this, it creates identical events for wednesdays, 6/6, 6/13, 6/20, 6/27, etc. Because it’s a regular event, and EC PRO necessarily generates the start/end dates, when I look in my events list, I see the identical event 52 times (starting the event in 2012 and ending in 2013 as mandated start/end dates example). I don’t want to the same event 52 times. I want to see it only once. Does that make sense? I will check out the links you listed, maybe I can find how to do it in there. Please CC [email protected] on any response. Thanks very much!

ParticipantHi Lisa,
Do you just want the instances removed on the events list page or everywhere? You could just create one event and then list the dates within. But then it wouldn’t display in the calendar on all the dates it takes place.

ParticipantHi Jonah,
After weighing the pros and cons of doing what I originally proposed here and discussing with Lisa, we’re going to abandon this request. Though it is undesirable to see recurring events swallow up more “A List” events (95% recurring, 5% marquee), we decided we do want the recurring events to be displayed as is, without any modification. Still, I’m going to carefully study the links you sent above though. We’ll probably want to do some of those things as time goes on. Thanks for your help!John

ParticipantSounds good John, I’m closing out the thread accordingly.
