ParticipantHello,
I have just recently installed the Events Calendar PRO plugin and all seemed to work well. I added a recurring event and it created the new events and added them all to the calendar and event lists.
However, after the first recurring event was added I tried to create more new recurring events, and none of the recurring events after the first one that I mentioned above are adding the additional events or displaying anything past the first instance of the event on the calendar/lists.
I went ahead and deactivated a few of my WPML plugins and that added all of the instances of the recurring events to the calendar (the instances seemed to appeared after deactivating “WPML Multilingual CMS”) . I reactivated the plugins one at a time and the event instances remained on the calendar. However, when trying again to add another recurring event, the instances after the first one are still not creating/displaying.
The installs of The Events Calendar/PRO and WPML are both brand new as of this week, so they are the most up-to-date versions. I am not entirely sure how to fix this issue and any input would be appreciated.
Thank you,
MaddieSeptember 16, 2016 at 3:07 pm #1165398Geoff B.
MemberGood evening Maddie and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We are sorry to hear about the issues you have been experiencing while trying to create recurring events with WPML installed. I would love to help you with this topic
As you found out, recurring event support is not fully functional with WPML yet. We apologize for any inconvenience this might have created.
The good news is that there is a manual workaround available for now and more importantly that we are in the final testing phases of releasing that feature.
If all goes well, this should be released in early October.
If you are interested in the manual workaround and are comfortable using phpMyAdmin, I would love to assist you with that.
Have a good week-end,
Geoff B.

ParticipantHi Geoff,
Thank you for the reply.
That is great to hear that this feature will be released in the near future. In the meantime I would be very interested in the manual workaround. I will await your assistance on that.
Just one quick question for clarification. As I mentioned before, the very first recurring event I created worked perfectly fine. Does the recurring event / WPML incompatibility occur sort of at random, or what would cause the first event to work and the rest created afterwards not to? I am just inquiring out of curiosity.
Thank you,

MemberGood evening Maddie,
Thank you for writing back.
You can find the manual workaround here: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/wpml-recurring-events-3/#post-1142644
Please make sure you perform a complete database backup before doing anything.
I typically recommend method #2 (temporarily deactivating and reactivating WPML) to assign languages to every recurring event.Just one quick question for clarification. As I mentioned before, the very first recurring event I created worked perfectly fine. Does the recurring event / WPML incompatibility occur sort of at random, or what would cause the first event to work and the rest created afterwards not to? I am just inquiring out of curiosity.
Simply put, all of the recurring events are created properly.
What is going on is that their existence is not relayed properly to the DB table that WPML uses to know which post is in which language. As such, WPML thinks they do not exist.
Let me know how that goes.
Best regards,

ParticipantHi Geoff,
Thanks for that reply. Somehow I missed that post and answer in my search for a fix to this issue.
I have followed the steps that you outlined, however I am under the impression that I may be doing something incorrectly. After I finish following all of the steps the events are showing up correctly on the calendar, however if I click on the second occurrence of an event, it will bring me to the single event page for the first occurrence every time. Any insight you may have as to what I may be doing incorrectly would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

MemberGood evening Maddie,
I am glad that the workaround was a step in the right direction.
Full disclosure, this workaround has known imperfections (such as the “see all” link not working properly), but usually access to each individual event was not an issue.
For that reason, could you please send me a copy of your WordPress theme / child theme in a .zip file link (via Dropbox or Google Drive in a private reply) so that I can run some tests on my end ?
Please ensure you are using the latest files as found on your actual website.
This way I will get access to any updates you might have made.Best regards,
Geoff B.
