With WordPress 4.7.3 installed EC Pro 4.4.5 and Community 4.4.3 installed a user entered an event to recur weekly every Thursday, but it is showing up every day during the period of days she entered.

I tried a few things: using exclusion of the other six days instead of inclusion and also in addition to inclusion of Thursday with the same result, so deleted the exclusion.

I have uploaded screen shots of the event in Admin and the month view of our calendar that shows the event every day.

Good evening Daniel and welcome back!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear about the recurring events not displaying properly on your site.
I would love to help you with this topic.

Based on what I can see, I believe the issue is with the length of the original event.

The way this is currently set up, the original event is one gigantic event that lasts from 2017-04-03 until 2017-11-02.

The correct way to handle this would be to have the original event from 2017-04-03 at 10:30 am until 2017-04-03 still at 10:30 am.

The date of 2017-11-02 should instead be used as the end date of your recurring rules.

Let me know if that helps.

    Have a great day!

    Hi Geoff,

Thanks very much for that tip — it did resolve the issue. I am going to add that as a note ton our “Add Event” page to inform our users and remind myself.

Speaking of that, for a future version it would be great to have a field in Settings to add text (and pictures — an editor like the ones for Before and After in the Display section of Settings) to the top of that “Submit An Event” page. It could be used for site rules on entering events, info, ads, or whatever, and would be easier than the current method of using a copy of the php file for the Add form in the template. Not a big or urgent thing, but it would be a nice amenity.

Thanks again for your great help,

    Dan

    Geoff,

I think I found the root of the issue. In the Submit an Event screen the recurring events button doesn’t show correctly — instead I get a drop down that does not let you set the recurrence details. After much experimenting I think this is a theme conflict, but I tried it on a number of themes, including WordPress themes, and the only one it seems to be working on correctly is Twenty Fourteen, which I really don’t like.

I experimented so much that I think I missed something but I think it was actually working on the Twenty Sixteen theme until I started customizing it within WordPress. Then it id the same thing — drop-down instead of the button that really lets you set recurring events.

My preference is to either use Twenty Sixteen or the theme I had created — is there a way to force the button instead of the dropdown?

    Thanks again,

    Dan

Good evening Dan and welcome back!

    Thank you for writing back.

I am super stoked that this fixed your issue. Kudos!

To answer your other question, what is probably going on is that the other themes you are using have some level of customization of our Submit event page.

Most likely, these customizations (found under the /tribe-events/ folder of each theme) sound like they need updating to work with the latest versions of our plugins.

A quick test, in each of these themes would be to temporarily rename that folder to /z_tribe-events/

In other words, the dropdown should not be there at all, unless there is traces of older versions of our the Events Calendar Pro plugin in the /tribe-events/ folder.

Could you please send me a copy of the latest version of your WordPress theme / child theme via a link to a .zip file link (stored Dropbox or Google Drive) so that I can run some tests on my end ? I recommend a private reply for that purpose.

Please ensure you are using the latest files as found on your actual website.
This way I will get access to any updates or customizations you might have made.

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.

Private reply sent. For folks with the same issue, Geoff’s suggestion was the solution. A customization from an older version of one of the Community files was the culprit. Updating that fixed this problem.

    Good morning Daniel,

Thank you for the theme files.
    Kudos on finding the issue!

In my experience, the best approach is to use some type of file compare tool (between your files and the most recent versions of theme) and look for deprecated functions.

Please let us know if you have trouble finding out what customizations need updating.

You are welcome back in our support forums any time 🙂

For now, I am going to close this thread.

    Have a great week!

    Geoff B.
