There’s an uber-popular plugin called “Duplicate Post” that allows Posts / Pages / Custom Post Types to be easily cloned to a new draft, then the details that need to be changed can be changed quickly. It’s a huge time saver when adding a lot of content that just has minor changes to the various pieces of content.

When used with Recurring events, some funky things seem to happen. The recurring events show up completely normal in the WP Admin and even in list views, but the calendar view doesn’t seem to show events properly. . .I haven’t been able to detect a pattern to report. Some events were set to recur on M/W each week for 8 weeks, and it showed the first 2 mondays and just the 1st wednesday, but no further events. Then another event was set up exact same and showed all Mondays for all 8 weeks but only the first Wednesday. . .

When I deleted the events and created them from scratch (rather than cloning and adjusting details) the events seemed to display just fine in the calendar view.

My assumption without digging into code is that there’s probably some hook that’s fired when adding a new event that doesn’t get triggered when cloning an event using the Duplicate Post plugin.

I know there’s no gaurantee that your plugin will work with all other plugins out there, but I think it would be beneficial if the Events Calendar Pro plugin worked seamlessly with some plugins like Duplicate Post that have been an integral part of the WP ecosystem for quite a while.

Thanks in advance for any time you put into making these plugins work together.

    bokkagroup,
Thanks for getting in touch! Which plugin are you specifically using? This blog post references the ‘Post Duplicator’ plugin, which the author claims to have had success with.

A quick search in the WP Plugin directory also turned up this result: http://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicate-tec-event/

As I’m sure you’re aware, we can’t provide any support for these third-party plugins, but would happily answer any questions the developers might have about making their plugins compatible with TEC.

Hopefully that helps to answer your questions. Thanks! 🙂

Thanks for the reply. I’ll check out the “Duplicate TEC Event” . . .the other plugin “Post Duplicator” appears to have issues with lots of other plugins, such as Advanced Custom Fields, so I’m not sure that would help in my situation. Duplicate Post has worked for me on countless sites and I can’t recall a single issue, so I’m surprised that it fails to work with The Events Calendar.

Thanks for the suggestions. Hopefully one of the solutions will work.

Great! Thanks for confirming that this got you sorted. Since it looks like you’re all set, I’m going to mark this thread “Answered” and close it out.

Feel free to create a new thread if you have further issues.

    Thanks!

    Cheers,
    Casey
