I’ve purchased the Events Calendar Pro plugin in July and have been using it somewhat successfully, mainly to create recurring events for a dance school website. I’ve had a few issues with some of the recurring events where the plugin had create a few dozen too many instances of an event on the same date. In those cases I’ve had to delete the entire series and and recreate it from scratch.

A couple of days ago I was trying to add a recurring event for a course of 8 lessons, and it create over 600 instances of that event on the same date. I spent an entire day deleting them a few at a time because deleting the entire series would do nothing. Then after I manage to delete them all, the entire events page is crashing showing the message:

“Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 805306368 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 72 bytes) in …./wp-includes/taxonomy.php on line 1531”

Is there anything I can do besides uninstalling and re-installing the plugin, and then having to recreate all the other events I already had in there????

Hi, Albena. Sorry you’re experiencing this.

It’s hard to tell if this is your issue or not, but, once you verify you’re on the latest versions, please do strongly consider trying the fix for runaway recurring events (a bug introduced in version 4.2.2 and fixed within a few days via version 4.2.2.1).

You can reference these code snippets to help determine if this is your problem and how to go about resolving it in your database:

Please let me know how it goes for you.

Thank you Cliff, it worked perfectly! I’ve installed now the latest version of the PRO plugin so I’m hoping the issue is gone.

Excellent. Sorry about that issue affecting your site.

I’m glad you’re up and running again!
