ParticipantHello,
I just purchased Events Calendar Pro specifically for the ability to set up recurring events. I was about to purchase Event Tickets Plus but read that it does not support recurring events. Can you please tell me if the following example is possible if I purchase Tickets Plus:
I want to create a fitness class that occurs every week for the foreseeable future (I can do this with EC Pro).
I want the user to be able to purchase a ticket for 1 of those classes on a specific date. (Or, user could add that class to the cart, then add more classes if they wish.) However, from what I see in the knowledge base, if the user buys a ticket, it is good for all events in that series. Is that correct? Or am I not able to sell tickets at all to events that are entered as recurring? It would seem that purchasing EC Pro to take advantage of recurring events is pointless if I can’t sett tickets to those events or if I can’t sell tickets to individual events within the set of recurring events.
Am I just understanding this wrong?
Thank you,
BrettJune 16, 2016 at 11:30 pm #1128279Geoff B.
MemberGood evening Brett and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
I would love to help you with this topic.
You understood correctly. Unfortunately right now, there can only be one ticket per recurring event series which, in essence, means that the ticket is “good” for the whole set of recurring events.
The only current workaround is to not use recurring events but use a third-party plugin such as tec duplicate. We realize that this is less than ideal. But the good news is that we have started working on that very feature as you can see here: https://tribe.uservoice.com/forums/195723-feature-ideas/suggestions/3685663-recurring-event-support-for-tickets
I wish I had a better answer for you, but for now it’s the best one I have.
Let me know if you have any other questions on that topic ?
Best regards,
Geoff B.

ParticipantGeoff,
Thank you for the prompt reply. You answered my questions fully but I do have a couple follow-ups:
1) Can I duplicate events with EC or EC Pro? The main reason I wanted recurring events is for the ease of entering them. I have several types of events (fitness classes), each of which occur up to 5x a week, so without recurring events I’d have to manually enter 50+ events per month. However, if I could quickly duplicate an event and just change the date, that would be acceptable. Not ideal, but workable, and it would solve the ticketing issue. Is that feasible?
2) You mentioned that you are working on the ticketing feature for recurring events. Any idea when that is likely to be released? I’m trying to make decisions on what event/ticketing platform to use for a new website. I’ve been using Event Espresso but want to go to a solution that is compatible with woo commerce. If I have an idea of when changes are coming, it would help.
Thanks,

MemberGood evening Brett,
Thank you for writing back.
1) Can I duplicate events with EC or EC Pro?
Yes you can. Any custom post duplicator should work, but a lot our users love the following plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicate-tec-event/
2) You mentioned that you are working on the ticketing feature for recurring events. Any idea when that is likely to be released?
This is an excellent question. I cannot offer a specific date yet (because it is too early for that). But I can tell you with certainty that it won’t be before the end of the summer (if that helps with your decision).
What I can also tell you is that we really do want to release this very requested feature as soon as possible.
Is there anything else I can help you with ?
Best regards,
Geoff B.

ParticipantThank you. Last question:
I am going to go ahead and give The Events Calendar a try and purchase Event Tickets Plus for my ticketing. However, the reason I purchased EC Pro was for recurring events, and because it is not compatible with ET Plus, can you please issue a refund for EC Pro (purchased 7 days ago) and I will use those funds to purchase ET Plus?Thank you,

MemberGood evening Brett,
Thank you for writing back and for your understanding.
The good news is you are fully entitled to a refund if you want one since you are within 30 days of your purchase. To obtain the refund, you just need to follow the procedure described here.
Is there anything else I can help you with on this topic ?
Have a good week-end,
Geoff B.

ParticipantGeoff,
Great. Thank you. Regarding the refund, ahat will happen to all of the events I’ve already published using EC Pro when I revert back to EC Core? If I have events that were set up as recurring, will they still be there as individual events or will they all get deleted?
Geoff, you’ve been very helpful in this process. I appreciate it. I honestly think this question will wrap it up and I can move forward using the plugin. I’m looking forward to it.
Thanks

MemberGood afternoon Brett,
Thank you f0r writing back and for your kind words.
What will happen to all of the events I’ve already published using EC Pro when I revert back to EC Core? If I have events that were set up as recurring, will they still be there as individual events or will they all get deleted?
That is a great question. When you deactivate Pro, the recurring event will become normal separate events that have “no relation” between them.
Additionally, you will loose all of the Pro views and any custom field you might have created for your events using Pro.
Let me know if there is anything else you need answers to.
Best regards,
Geoff B.
