Recurring events and back end sort order

Since even indefinitely repeating events must be given end dates, I use the following December 31 as the default end date, which, with weekly or greater frequency events, causes many, many discreet events to appear in the admin list. At least until some other provision is made for indefinitely repeating events, is it possible to change the default back end sort order to ascending? I’m afraid the default of having next December’s events appearing at the top in the admin screen will cause someone to edit next December’s iteration of a recurring event instead of the next occurrence. Better yet, how about future events first, in ascending order (like it is on the front end)?
