ParticipantHi,
I created a support thread a few days ago
You requested system info, but you closed the ticket before I could reply!
I was able to create an event using these settings –
http://screencast.com/t/4EXSo353sHowever the exclusions wouldn’t work. To work around this, I created the event and then searched for the two I wanted to exclude and manually delete those two instances, so at least the calendar display is providing users with the right information.
Checking back through the forums, this exclusion issue seems to have been an issue with previous versions of The Events Calendar Pro.

ParticipantHey Philip,
I’m really sorry about that! That was simply a mistake on my part, I clicked the “Close thread” button. Sorry for the trouble!

Now as for these issues, thank you for sharing your system information…there doesn’t seem anything out of place there, so I went to my own site and recreated an event with the exact configuration you have in your screenshot (thank you for sharing that!).
There are two things to note from when I did this:
1. The event generated fine and its exclusion for June 1 2016 was fine.
2. However, I was not able to recreate your second exclusion because it doesn’t seem to be a valid date! This may be the source of the problem. Look closely at the date for that second exclusion in your screenshot – the date there is 13/1/2016, but your date format elsewhere in the admin in your screenshot is Month/Day/Year, so this 13/1/2016 date would be pointing to some nonexistant 13th month..
How did you do this, do you remember?
Also:
3. If you make another event with the same exact configurations EXCEPT that you change the second date to be 12/1/2016, then publish this event, does that make things work any better?
Thanks for your patience with this!
Cheers,
GeorgeDecember 22, 2015 at 9:29 am #1045466Philip

ParticipantBy the way, I have checked my date picker settings just to be sure and they are set to a UK format day/month/year

ParticipantHey Philip,
First of all, thank you for your patience with my delayed response over the holidays.
As for the issues here, I unfortunately am failing to recreate the problem. I’m suspicious of some deeper bug at play here, perhaps with the day/month/year format specifically – if you change your date picker settings temporarily to something like the US format of month/day/year, does anything change at all with the behavior of this issue if you try creating another duplicate of this event with the same exclusions and such?
Thank you so much for your patience with this problem!
Sincerely,
GeorgeJanuary 1, 2016 at 4:31 am #1048655Philip

ParticipantThanks so much for sharing this information – your findings indeed seem to indicate a bug here, so I will write up these findings and make a bug ticket in our development system.
As for an ETA for when a fix for this will arrive in an update – I must admit that I don’t know, and can’t promise a specific date. However, this would probably make it into a release no more than three updates from now, which would be sometime within the next few months roughly.
I’m sorry to be so vague! I would just hate to promise something soon and then have things be delayed, and it’s honestly just hard to say – this could be a simple bug to fix, or it could end up being something deeper than expected and thus require more time and QA testing, etc.
Thank you for your patience with all of this, and for the screenshots and such throughout this thread.
Sincerely,
GeorgeJanuary 5, 2016 at 2:36 am #1050257Philip
ParticipantHi George,
Thanks for the update. I’ll keep the plugins updated and will keep an eye on the changelog.
You guys give great support. I wish everyone else I deal with was as committed as you guys.
Thanks again.
Regards
Phil

ParticipantPhil, thank you for these kind words despite there being an annoying bug hindering the use of our plugins – I really appreciate those sentiments and am happy to say that I’ve done the following:
• Tested and recreated this bug
• Logged it in our development trackerI unfortunately do not think this will make it into the next release, which we’re aiming to get out the door by – tentatively – something like January 20. Again, this is just a tentative goal and very much subject to change (especially as we get back into gear after the holidays and such).
I looked through other tickets and we just unfortunately have a lot of other bugs and things in this release that are already actively underway 🙁
However, this bug is a pretty substantial one so it will be getting developer attention for sure. I’d say by the end of February, maybe, you could reasonably expect this to be fixed. Perhaps sooner, perhaps even a bit later, but just trying to give a rough estimate if it’s helpful.
I hope it is – and I hope that, for now, you’re able to use the “US” style date picker format without issue. I’m really sorry about this bug! But thanks to you, we’ve indeed identified the bug now and have a fix coming for it soon.
Thanks Phil!

ParticipantHi George,
Not a problem. It’ll be a few weeks at least before we hand over to the client to manage, so we can us the US date format work-around for the time being.
Thanks again.
Regards
Phil

ParticipantGlad to hear it Phil – I’ve set the “priority” on the bug ticket quite high, so I’m hopeful and confident that it will receive attention sooner rather than later.
At this point I’ll go ahead and close up this thread, but stay tuned to updates in these two places:
• your wp-admin dashboard – when updates are released, check the “changelog” to see if anything related to this is included in the release
• http://theeventscalendar.com/blog – not trying to “promote” our blog, but we publish release notes there and, just like the changelog thing mentioned above, if something related to this makes it into the plugin it will be noted in the release notes.
Thank you for your patience with this Phil!
