Recurring event – different time and location

Hi

I just bought the pro version of The Events Calendar.

I thought I could create a single recurring event with different dates and location, but it seems not.

Can you help me ?

I am the editor in chief of a personal website which publish a calendar of plays (theatre). Some plays are touring. I wanted to create one event for each play, and give it several dates (ex. July 21, July 27, August 3 – I know that I can do it with the reccuring settings from the Pro version) but I would like to give different locations for each date : July 21 in Global Theatre, July 27 in Montreal Theatre Plaza, August 3 in Lincoln Theatre, etc.). The fact is I wanted to avoid to create the same event over and over again, just because it changes place each time it is presented… you see ? I am sure a lot of people would want to do that…. no ?

This is a feature that I really need. If the Pro version can’t do that, it is no use for me.

Hi David,

Thanks for taking the time to reach out! While it’s not currently possible to specify different venues for each date of a recurring event series as you’re creating the event, you can easily change the venues assigned to different dates after your event series has been published. These steps should help you to get that set up:

1. Using the steps provided in our Knowledgebase article, create an event series with your desired dates for each play.
2. Open the single event page for one of your event dates in your browser.
3. Navigate to the Edit Event menu in the Admin Toolbar (at the top of your single event page) and click Break from Series in the drop-down menu. This will split off this event date from your event series into a standalone single event.
4. Once the edit page appears for your event, scroll down to the Location subheading and change the venue details for the selected event date.
5. Click the blue Update button at the top of the edit page to publish your changes to the event.
6. Repeat steps 2-6 for any other single events with unique venues in your event series.
