    we upgraded to 3.6 from 3.5, ended up going from 300+ events to over 12,000 – all the recurring seemed to duplicate a ton. We ran cleanup tool ( have tried 10+ times) and it kept timing out and not completing. After logging back in to admin, there were more than before we ran the cleanup tool. HELP. I am now manually removing but would appreciate any help to speed up process. The extra amount of events now seems to be dramatically slowing down site load, etc. we upgraded to 3.7 today and new events seem to be fine, but i still need to get rid of the 11,000+ duped events.

    Hi – I’m really sorry for the inconvenience this bug has caused you.

    Updating to 3.7 was definitely a good move and,  from here, I think using the duplicate cleanup plugin is going to be the best way to move forward – it should not result in more duplicates being generated (that may have been a side effect of the original update problem) and it’s certainly possible you will need to run it numerous times to get around the timeouts and clean up such a large number of events – but I’m not sure there are any particularly better solutions available at this point.

    all fixed! after I got it down to under 5000 events the cleanup tools started running much better and it took care of it!

    Excellent, glad that worked (and sorry it turned out to be a bit more arduous than would be ideal).
