I just can’t get my head around the proper implementation of recurring events. Here’s my scenario:

    • My event takes place over three non-consecutive weekends, for a total of 7 days.
    • Each day has different start and end times.
    • Attendees register for all 7 days as a package. (At least I don’t have to worry about multiple tickets.)

So far, I have been creating separate events for Weekend 1 (three days), Weekend 2 (two days), and Weekend 3 (two days). I’ve just been setting them up as all-day spans of time (Friday 9am to Sunday 3pm) and putting the specific daily times in the details. This looks nice on the calendar, but it means the event detail page is imprecise, and I don’t like that the ticket email won’t show the daily times unless I tweak something.

So how would I use Recurring Events to achieve this? Everything I’ve tried so far gives me incomplete or unexpected results. If I use “On Date,” I can’t change the time for each day. If I use “Custom,” I’m getting the event EVERY DAY between Weekend 1 and Weekend 2.

(The “Custom” option seems so unintuitive, and redundant! If I wanted an event to happen every day, there’s already a “Daily” option for that. To be truly custom, why can’t I just say my event occurs on Day 1, 9am-6pm, AND on Day 2, 8am-4pm, AND on Day 3, 9am-5pm… etc.??!)

I’d appreciate any tips on getting this working.

    Hi, Tamara.

Unfortunately, our ticketing plugins do not support PRO’s recurring events functionality.

I believe you’re requesting the same thing as one of our existing feature requests: https://tribe.uservoice.com/forums/195723-feature-ideas/suggestions/3685663-recurring-event-support-for-tickets — Please do add your vote.

One workaround idea is to create all your recurring events, break them all from the recurrence series (so they become single/standalone events) and then add tickets to each single/standalone event.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hello. It would be good to see what the support answer was for the initial question. This is (more or less) the same issue I am having, even for more simple setups. For example, a weekend market that occurs every on the first Saturday and Sunday of each month between 10:00-16:00 each day.

Each monthly event should be treated as a separate “event” and yet the plugin doesn’t give any way to specify a start and end time for Saturday and Sunday. So I end up registering the event as starting on Saturday @ 10:00am and ending on Sunday @ 16:00, which isn’t true.

Making two separate postings–one for Saturday and one for Sunday–results is the plugin thinking that the Saturday and Sunday evenings aren’t related, which is fine but for the fact that when you look at the event calendar and select “only show first occurrence” then one Saturday for April (say) is shown and then the next month only the Sunday is shown…

What is the answer to this? It’s strikes me as pretty basic logic one would expect in an event plugin with that allows for reoccurring events. If I’m missing something, please let me know.

    Cliff,

For some reason I didn’t see your reply until just now.

As I said in my question, I don’t need to set up recurring tickets, which seems to be what you’re describing. My question would still apply for entirely free events. The issue is just how to use the “recurrence” feature so that events show up accurately on the calendar.

Again, any help on that will be appreciated.

I’m sorry if I misunderstood the core of your question.

To be clear, I understand you’re both stating you’d like a single event (non-recurring) to be able to span multiple days but specify different times on each day. And this has nothing to do with tickets?

    Is this correct?

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
