Pro looks like it will answer my needs. We will be starting from scratch with a new WP site.
I want to replace my existing calendar site where all the events are added by users.
Some may want to sell tickets. However they and I will want them to use a system of payment that is their responsibility not mine. This is a regional community calendar covering many types of events. Can you recommend the best solution?
Is is it possible to charge a small fee to either publish the event or to be a registered user. We would wish to use PayPal for this. The site will not be anything else apart from a Calendar. Which theme would be easily customisable to fit as closely possible the existing branding. Can you please recommend which Plug ins and configuration would suit my needs best? This is a UK based site.

Howdy Gordon,

That sounds like an awesome business plan. You are not the first person we have encountered who wants to do that with our plugin. We have had a few suggestions about this. Please vote up the ones that are relevant to you, every vote does count when we are decideding where to allocate development time.

Currently the plugin is just not capable of what you want. You can not (yet?) charge people to submit events, nor can they sell tickets without linking to a third party service link Eventbrite. It would require some  extensive modifications to add all the functionality you want. Sadly, I am not aware of any other solution for you, especially WP plugin wise.
