ParticipantI’d like to show events from two different events calendar calendars on each other. I add the one calendar as an other url aggregator to one site. When I go to add the other calendar I get in the preview events that are on the original site.
I.e. Site A has event X and Y, Site B has event Z. When I go to site A and add the import, I have then events X, Y, and Z on site A’s calendar. Now when I go to site B and add import for Site A’s calendar, instead of getting just event X and Y in the preview, I also see event Z. Will this event in the preview overwrite the original event on the site or does the aggregator understand this scenario. I could just tell it to not overwrite (will that work) but if I do, will changes from the original site migrate over?

KeymasterHello John,
Thanks for using our plugins and welcome to the forums!
Wow, that is an exciting scenario!
Unfortunately I don’t know how that is going to play out, I don’t think we ever tested a scenario like that. Or that it even came up.
I believe you would end up with duplicate events, possibly on both sites, but that’s a guess at the moment.
I’m happy to test this for you, but it will require some time.
Cheers,

ParticipantAny progress on this? This is something we will need to accomplish one way or another.
Thanks

KeymasterHi John,
Sorry, I was out most of last week so didn’t get to it.
I tested the scenario and it should work as following.
You got 2 sites, site A and site B.
Set up a scheduled import on site B with the url of site A. This will import either all or the selected events from site A.
Then set up the scheduled import on site A with the url of site B. This will again import either all or the selected events from site B. Note that the original site A events will be duplicated this time.
Now you will have to click on “Hide & Ignore” on these duplicate events. Note, not the original ones, but the duplicates. You should be able to decide based on publication date. The newer publication date is the imported duplicate, that needs to be “Hide & Ignore”-d.
After this those events will not be duplicated any more. However, if you add a new event to site A, then after re-importing that will be duplicated, so you will need to H&I that as well.
I hope my explanation is clear. 🙂 Let me know if you have any questions.
Cheers,

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
