ParticipantWe purchased Events Calendar Pro and Eventbright Tickets plugins for a nonprofit client — DowntownRescueMission.org
However, as we understand it, these pluins are requesting full FTP access to auto update. We do not typically grant FTP access for this type of thing for a variety of reasons.
Also this client will be moving their site from our server to their own GoDaddy server in about a month. We are concerned that even if we did get the plugin working and updated with FTP access now, it would just break when they transfer their hosting.
Is there a way to manually handle the update and/or get these 2 plugins working without granting full FTP access?
Until we get this resolved, we are using their old WuFoo forms for event registration. Not ideal. Would like to switch over as soon as we can.
Thanks,

MemberHi Evan,
If WordPress is prompting you for FTP credentials upon plugin update/deletion etc then it does not have the permissions or access it needs to do this by directly operating on the file system – if that’s the case it is an issue with your WordPress installation and how it is configured rather than a problem stemming from our plugins.
That said, you can certainly update manually. The core plugin is available in the wordpress.org repo and our PRO version can be obtained from the downloads page.
Hope that helps!

MemberI’m not sure what the problem is either, at this point. However, I should be clear that we do not provide telephone support – we deliver support only via this forum.
I just want to reiterate that if what you are seeing is WordPress requesting FTP credentials then this is a configuration issue for you, your developers or your web host to resolve – it isn’t something we can help with. Here’s a screenshot illustrating the sort of thing I mean:
If what you’re seeing is completely different though then yes please send a screenshot to help illustrate – sharing it via a service such as Dropbox or Droplr and sharing the link here is easiest.
Thanks!

MemberThanks for clarifying, Evan: if you want to explore a higher level relationship with Modern Tribe please do drop us a line explaining more about your budget and requirements.
For the issue you are now describing (with your license key) please try visiting the license key management page and clear the relevant domain or domains listed there, then try re-establishing the key within the WordPress site itself. If you experience further difficulties along these lines I would ask that you post a new thread for help with this specific issue as we try to adhere to a policy of one issue per thread to avoid confusion.
However, as we understand it, these pluins are requesting full FTP access to auto update.
So based on your last reply I’m not clear if this is still a problem – can you clarify and does my last post provide the guidance you need here?
Thanks!
