Question regarding venue listing

Hi,

so, this is kind of an after sales question since we bought Events Calender Pro already.
We are organizing Berlin Beer Week and are currently plugging in all our venues, organizers and eventually events.
So my question is regarding the venue listing on the map.
The way I understand this plugin in is, that venues will only be listed or be searchable if they are related to an event. Is that correct ? The reason why I am asking is, that we want to turn our webpage into a one stop page for people who are looking for craft beer venues/businesses in Berlin and that would include a location based search for just venues/businesses, with possible links to their events if they have any coming up. So, is this possible with ECP or do we have to get a separate map plugin (which would be somewhat of a bummer, because we’d have to do double work).
If that is no feature yet, maybe you guys can implement it somehow and let me (and maybe others) pay for it 😉
I just realized, that in that case venues need to be able to be tagged with custom tags such as bar, restaurant etc.

Hi there! Thanks for getting in touch and for trying out Events Calendar PRO–happy to have you here with us! 🙂

Unfortunately, our map support is limited to displaying map locations for venues that are assigned to a current event, and there’s no option to display map markers for all existing venues. This may be possible by way of site-specific customizations, but it would be beyond that scope of what we’d be able to assist with here on the support team, I’m afraid.

That said, we do have a number of map-related feature requests over on our UserVoice forum–if this is something you’d love to see in a future release, I encourage you to drop by and cast your vote for an existing suggestion (or suggest your own)!

So, I just came across this plugin https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/listing-venues-and-organizers/ and it is almost what I am looking for, except it doesn’t show a map. So, how difficult can it be to display not just a listing of all the events, but also a map with them on it ?

Solid question! Venues are stored in the WordPress database as custom post types and are able to be queried for uses such as this, but again, this would fall under the umbrella of site-specific customizations, which we aren’t able to assist with directly. If you’re interested in developing a custom solution to achieve this on your site, I’d encourage you to check out our Themer’s Guide and Technical Docs to get you started–you’ll find plenty of information and resources between the two of them to help you on your journey! 🙂
