GuestHello. I’ve been using the free version of the events calendar on a site I created for one of my clients. They have a ton of reoccurring events, and I’ve sold them on the idea of upgrading. My question: is the Pro version an actual upgrade, or is it a new version of the existing plugin? If we have the plugin in place and upgrade to pro, should we expect to lose data and settings, or will we just get all the enhanced features? Lastly, with 3.0 coming out soon, would we be better off just waiting for that to be released?

MemberHi Daniel,
Good question. The PRO plugin is an add-on, so it works on top of the existing core plugin. All the data and settings that you have now will transition seamlessly to work with PRO. The only thing that may need some work is if you currently have recurring events that were creating manually without PRO, you may want to make them into the PRO-enabled Recurring Event so they function better.
I would recommend that you add PRO sooner rather than later, for two reasons. For one, we are increasing our prices in June and if you buy now you’ll save on year-long PRO license. Secondly, adding PRO now will give you a chance to adjust to all the new features that PRO offers (including the new Recurring Events as I noted above). Our 3.0 release includes a whole bundle of new features, so it might be nice for you and your client to go one at a time with the big changes 🙂
Cheers,

GuestI have one other question. Is it $50 per year for the Pro version? Or is it a one time $50 cost that comes with one year of service? It was my understanding that after the year is up, the support and upgrades are over, but the pro version of the plugin will still function on the site. Can you clarify please?

GuestI read with excitement Daniel’s second group of questions. Those are the answers I am desperately trying to figure out. Please post the answers re: length of license. Operates for one year then you pay again ?

MemberYes JD, the license is good for one year from date of purchase. You can read more about how that works here. If you have further questions, please ask.
