question about integrating events, membership and donations

I am volunteering to help a non-profit organization that needs to build a new website. The site will be based on WordPress. The organization runs several large conference-like events each year as well as a fair number of free, simple events each month. The simple free events simply need to be listed in the calendar, which is why we purchased The Events Calendar Pro.

For the larger events, which are each comprised of various activities over four days, we have been planning on building custom event registration forms using WooCommerce and various associated plug-ins. However, I am wondering if we can use The Events Calendar Pro for more than just maintaining a calendar. I’ve spent some time researching but cannot find the answers to a few simple questions.

The biggest and important question facing us is this: we need to create event registration forms that include collecting name, address and other personal information; selling tickets (paid and free; some with a limit on the number of tickets available) to each of the activities that are part of an event; and then optionally collecting a membership renewal fee and/or donations to one or more programs supported by the organization and then pay for the whole thing with one credit card payment.

Does the functionality provided by The Events Calendar Pro, in combination with WooCommerce and WooTickets, provide support for this kind of event registration? Or should we continue with our plan to simply use The Events Calendar Pro to list events and build custom registration forms for each new main event as they occur?

Any guidance whatsoever is greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the forums! Thanks a ton for getting in touch.

Does the functionality provided by The Events Calendar Pro, in combination with WooCommerce and WooTickets, provide support for this kind of event registration?

The short answer, I’m afraid, is no. WooCommerce Tickets does not provide the ability to collect attendee information and other advanced event registration functionality.

That said, we are in the middle of beta testing a new feature that would allow you to collect that information. It’s in the works, but not available just yet.

So, yeah, I would suggest continuing to use The Events Calendar as a means of listing events for the time being. The event registration and payment functionality that is coming in WooCommerce Tickets looks promising for what you describe, so it’s worth keeping an eye on it for sure.
