I am using The Events Calendar PRO/Event Tickets Plus plugins in conjunction with the WooCommerce Follow Ups extension in order to send emails to customers who purchase a ticket to an event in a specified event category. WooThemes support insists the problem described below is related to a custom trigger in your product. Your help will be greatly appreciated!

I have created an Event (“Write a Better Product Description”) that is expected to be the first in a series of similar events. So, it’s been assigned the event the Event Category of “Write a Better Product Description.” Here’s a screenshot of the Edit Event page:

I created a Ticket for the Event named “Write a Better Product Description – Session 1.” Here’s a screenshot of the Tickets section of the Edit Event page:

Here’s a screenshot of the Edit Product page associated with the Ticket:

I created a Follow-up Emails Campaign consisting of four Events Emails. The first is to be triggered by the completed purchase of a ticket to an Event in the “Write a Better Product Description” Event Category. Here’s a screenshot of the Follow-Up Emails in the campaign:

Finally, here’s a screenshot of the Follow-up Details for the first Follow-Up Email in the campaign (“Welcome”):

I’ve made two test purchases of a ticket to the Event. In neither case has the initial (“Welcome”) Follow-Up Email been triggered.

My goal is to to be able to trigger the Follow-Up Email campaign for all Events in the “Write a Better Produce Description” Event Category rather than tie the campaign to a specific Ticket/Product.

    What am I missing?

Good afternoon W David and welcome back,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear about the follow-up campaign not triggering after the purchase of a ticket. I would love to help you with this topic.

First off, we do believe that WooCommerce Follow Ups is a great plugin. Our understanding is that it will become an even better plugin over time.

With that in mind, I have a couple of follow-up questions to pinpoint what the issue is:

    1. Can you tell me how the ticket WooCommerce order is set to “Complete” currently ? Manually ? Through a snippet ? Via a plugin ? Automatically after a payment ?
    2. Can you tell me if there are any snippets or customizations on your WordPress theme (via functions.php or a /tribe-events/ folder) ? Could you please send me a copy of your WordPress theme / child theme in a .zip file link (via Dropbox or Google Drive) so that I can run some tests on my end ?
    3. Are follow-up emails being properly generated for other types of WooCommerce related events at this point ?

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.

Thanks for the follow-up, Geoff. I’m happy to go with you down this rabbit hole. Before we do so, please know that I’ve implemented a work-around that suits my needs for the time being. While I haven’t changed the triggers for my follow-up emails, I changed “Enable for” to “A specific ticket.” I’ll have to manually update the ticket/SKU for each new event, but it seems to work. I had hoped that by enabling for “A specific event category” that I wouldn’t have to keep editing the Follow-up Details for each email in our sequence.

In short, my immediate problem is solved.

Geoff, I will do as you suggested, but it may not be until this weekend or early next week before I’m able to do so.

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
