ParticipantWe are working on a development server adding in extra functionality for a client (the site itself was originally made by a separate developer). We have it set up now so that users can anonymously create an event on the front end of the site using the Community Events plugin. These events are set to be “Pending”, so the administrator can go in and publish them after checking them. Unfortunately, it seems that any events set to be recurring are duplicated whenever the status is changed. So if they publish the event, there are two sets of recurring events, both set to published oddly enough.
This works even if you create the event in the back end of the site by creating it set as Pending, and clicking “Save as Pending”, then once the page loads clicking “Publish”. With this issue, we can’t hand off the calendar functionality to the client as it doesn’t work if the user creates a recurring event. It seems like it’s re-creating the recurrence chain even if you save the original event item itself.

ParticipantHi fusionstudio,
Thanks for reporting this issue. I’m seeing a bit of that behavior here as well. I’m going to do some more testing of it, but one thing I noticed is that it doesn’t seem to duplicate if you publish the first event in the series and then select the “Update All Events” option. You can unpublish particular events from there if you need to.
Does that behave the same way for you?
I’m likely to log this as a bug, so if you have any additional details or wonkiness that you notice, I’d really appreciate hearing about them.

ParticipantHere is what we are seeing…
Any time you are editing an event which is part of a recurring series, it asks you if you wish to save the changes for just the one instance or for the entire series from that point forward. This means that editing an event other than the first one in the series essentially “breaks the chain” and makes it into two series (or just makes that one instance a non-recurring event if you save only one). Also, changing the dates or recurrence of the event creates a new chain of events from that point forward and doesn’t delete the remaining recurrences of that original event timing.
The issue only arises when changing the dates for recurring events, or if you accidentally save an event that is partway through a series.

ParticipantHello,
Is there any status updates or ETA on when this bug will be fixed?

ParticipantHi, fusionstudio. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to look at your issue for our maintenance release this time around.
While it’s possible we may have inadvertently fixed it in addressing another issue and welcome your feedback to confirm or deny this once you’ve updated, we want to set your expectations.
Rest assured getting this resolved is still a priority for us. We look forward to addressing this as soon as we’ve got bandwidth/resources to allow it.
Thanks for being part of the TEC community!
