ParticipantJust discovered that our client, after adding events to the site we’ve built them, is manually adding them to another site (Joomla) she has access to. This is a time consuming duplication of effort.
So i’ve been looking on your forum/tech/KB for info on simply providing the other site a .ics feed from our site.
I can see you introduced iCal/Google exports in 3.6 (see here) but these seem to be static exports .ics files
These also some code to export the calendar for 1 year range here.
Then there are various posts mentioning providing the feed URL in the format “webcal://www.etal.org.uk/events/ical” or “http://www.etal.org.uk/events/ical” but both of these show errors when validating (see here).
Am I missing something in the setup of my events and calendar here? What is the recommended method to:
a) provide a .ics feed for another site to pull in?
b) provide visitors a subscribe button on our site for them to subscribe to?
c) Can a) and b) be provided for individual/separate event categories (e.g. webcal://www.etal.org.uk/events/my_category/ical), or just the single feed for all events? Thanks in advance

MemberHi. Thanks for your detailed question.
It sounds like you’ve got a full understanding of the options available.
The /ical URLs are for the Month view, and I’ve logged the iCal validation bug just now.
For each of your questions:
A) we recommend that Year View of iCal export to get close to a full copy/import of your The Events Calendar events
B) this is already included at the bottom of both the archive view and the single event views
C) there are many filters available that might be able to accomplish this. If that’s not sufficient, you can reference our Themer’s Guide and accomplish this with a template override.
I hope this information helps.

ParticipantOK, thanks for reply.
So we can’t provide an ongoing event feed that syncs with our site?

MemberNot natively via our plugin’s options, such as a JSON export/import. However, this is on our long-term list of things we know users have asked for.
We do know of quite a few customers who use the iCal format to pull this off so it might be worth a try for you.

ParticipantDefinitely need this type of option for ics feed. Let us know if this is on a roadmap and if so for which quarter. If it is not on roadmap, we unfortunately move majority of sites to a new software 🙁

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
