PROPOSAL: Change ordering for events in map-view when searching by location

When searching by location in map-view, the ordering seems to happen by distance to the searched location. IMHO the events should be ordered by date, and secondly by distance. Because an event, that is, for example, starts in 2 months would be listed earlier in the search result , because it is accidentally located closer to the map-pin of the searched city, than another event that happens tomorrow, but is accidentally located in bigger distance to the map-pin.

When someone is searching an event in his town he is looking primarily by date, and second-rank by distance. Particularly the location of the map pin often does not coincidee with HIS location. so the distance is not the best ordering – I think.

Hey Gordian. Thanks for the note here. This is a really solid suggestion; I’m not sure what it would take to implement or what the level of effort is here, but I can see the value in what you’ve noted. What I’ve gone ahead and done is logged it as a PROPOSED feature for our team.

At the moment we’re focused on crushing bugs in the 3.0 release, so I can’t see us moving into the feature tweak side of things for a while yet. But know that this is now on the radar – and if anyone else finds a way to hack the plugin to accomplish this in the interim, they’re welcome to open a new thread and post the solution.
