    Hi,

    We just updated our Events Calendar plugin to PRO version. We really love this plugin but we found some problems with the translations. Now we are showing a mix of spanish and english text.

    As example:
    Eventos “for” Junio http://www.lazarola.com/cursos-cocina/
    Upcoming eventos http://www.lazarola.com/cursos-cocina/list/

    We checked the MO and PO files, we did some changes… but it seems not to read the files.

    We need a solution for this issue asap. Some ideas?

    Hi Mónica

    Shoot, sorry for the mixups here! We did introduce a number of new and updated strings in The Events Calendar 3.10 that were not included in the previous version. Therefore, the existing files that came packaged with the 3.9.3 will be outdated in 3.10.

    We’ve just launched a whole new process for translations and have two write-ups for it here:

    Two things to note are:

    • You do not have to submit an entire translation, you can just submit translations for individual strings. Even if it’s just one string, or something like a spelling correction, it all helps!
    • Your submitted strings will be saved as “suggestions”, and not immediately included in a translation file for export until an administrator approves them. This may seem like a limitation, but it just helps us ensure nobody comes along and deletes translations or adds spam or something to them. Your suggestions will be approved very promptly.

    That first article also includes the steps for installing the any updated language files to your site to ensure that the changes stick – let me know if it does, or if you have any other questions or concerns! 🙂

    Hello Geoff,

    I have the same problem as Monica has.

    Unfortunatly your advice doesn’t resolve the problem, at least not in my case and I assume neither in Monica’s.

    Though all po and mo files do contain the proper translation for e.g. “Upcoming” in “Upcoming Events”,the translation on the website does not use that translated string. I have followed the guide you have posted the link to, but it doesn’t change the behaviour. Do you have any clue what other reasons might cause this?

    Hi Jacob,

    Can you elaborate on exactly what you mean when you say this:

    I have followed the guide you have posted the link to, but it doesn’t change the behaviour

    “Following those guides” could mean a couple different things. Have you submitted translations for approval? If so, then no difference will be made until the translations are approved.

    Just curious about what you mean there – let us know!

    Hello Goeff,

    Thank you for your support.

    What I have done is to check if the language exists (German) in my wordpress as well as in my tribe events directory. I have opened the language file and searched for the words that aren’t translated in the frontend. All of them – there are just 3 words 🙂 – are translated in the translation file.

    Can you think of any reason why the translation file won’t be processed as it should?

    Hi Jacob,

    Thank you for the kind words about the plugin!

    Can you clarify whether or not the file whose strings you are manually editing are the German mo and po files already included with the plugin? Or are they ones that you’ve freshly downloaded off of http://translations.theeventscalendar.com ?

    If they are not from http://translations.theeventscalendar.com, then it will be out of date and words will continue to be missing on your front-end regardless of edits you make to the file manually included with the plugin.

    I hope this helps clarify things a bit – let us know if that’s the case!

    Hello George,

    I’ve freshly (just today again to test) downloaded the po and mo file, replaced the existing one in the “the-events-calendar” / “lang” directory, but still those 3 words won’t be translated into my native language. What setting or code could cause this?

    Hi Jacob,

    The language itself might not have had all its new strings approved – that’s the most likely source of the problem.

    If it still seems funky, check out the translations.theeventscalendar.com site manually and see the strings for your language. If there are missing or badly-translated strings, it will lead to problems like you see here.
