Ulli’s workaround is sound (thanks for sharing, Ulli!) however if you wish to use other instances of the widget where events should be shown elsewhere on your site it would be better to change:

    <?php tribe_get_template_part( 'pro/widgets/mini-calendar/list' ) ?>

    To:

    <?php if ( 0 < $args['count'] ) tribe_get_template_part( 'pro/widgets/mini-calendar/list' ) ?>

This will allow the event count to be 0 or higher.

Oliver and Ulli – Thank you for your comments –
Barry, I will wait until I hear from you with the list of freelancers and independent developers.
Thank you all for your comments and help in trying to figure this problem out. I hope it can be worked out soon. It’s kind of a off season for horse events, but I will pick up towards the end of December. So, we have some time
    Thanks Again – Polly – http://www.horseconnectioncenter.com

    Hi Polly,

If you mean the code in my November 22nd post it’s basically an extension of Ulli’s idea, so you’d need to customize one of the templatespro/widgets/mini-calendar-widget.php in this case.

In terms of freelancers, in no particular order you might consider contacting:

WerkPress (http://www.werkpress.com) – customization based projects with minimums of $500-$800
Chris Miller (http://launchbrigade.com) – $125 consultation required before providing an estimate
Nick Ciske (http://thoughtrefinery.com/) – minimum fee depends on project type

If you need a cheaper solution, you might check out some of these listings:

    http://freelanceswitch.com
    http://directory.codepoet.com/browse/
    http://jobs.wordpress.net/

Hopefully the above will help you find someone to work on your site. Good luck!

Ulli and Barry…. (Rob can you forward this to Barry, thanks)
I did it…. 🙂 – I went it and changed the code… That is the first time I ever did anything like that….
Ulli, thank you so much for assuming that I could do something like this and Barry thank you for your string.
So, the problem still remains that you can’s see any of the events inside the calendar, but at least there is not a number of “post” being added after the calendar.
I have temporarily located the calendar on the bottom of my website page – Because the viewer can’t see the events when they click on the date…. I have posted “events” up on my website for them to go in and see the events.
I still need help in fixing it so you can actually see the events when you click on the calendar dates..
I hope all of this makes sense… It is just so nice to have the string of posts gone from under the calendar.
Ulli – Thank You for assuming that I knew what I was doing 🙂
Barry – will you still be working on a solution for this? Thanks 🙂
    Thank You both very much

    Hi Polly,

I think, unfortunately, you are hitting another (but separate) bug. If you do set the number of events for the widget to display to 1 or more do you then find that it works as expected? If so we can do a further template customization to work around this issue.

Thanks for your continued patience and support!

Hi Barry – I have changed it on the widget to display “1”. Now, it will not even open up. You can tell the days that their are events because they are a darker color. But, when you click on the date, it does nothing. I will leave it displaying “1” so you can see what I mean.
If you look at the top (under the header) I have a button for events. If you click that on it works perfect… Now what???
Thanks Barry – Sorry for all of this… Polly http://www.horseconnectioncenter.com

No not all, my fault for giving you bad advice.

My idea was that we would then hide the list of events (in this case, just 1 event) from below the calendar and everything would work as expected … of course, in this case, that won’t happen – as when 1 or more events are set to be displayed below the calendar it doesn’t behave in quite the same way.

I think in this case, unfortunately, the best course of action (if you don’t want to use the widget in its intended mode – with a list of events displaying underneath it) would be to hide it until this is fixed in an upcoming maintenance release.

Barry – I am still not able to see my events from the calendar. If I click on the date; it tell me not events for that date. I have the calendar on the bottom of my home page because it is still not working correctly. I was able to eliminate the post under the calendar with the string you sent me. But, is there a way to fix the calendar or have it go back to when it was working correctly. The Horse season will start back up in January. So, I am hoping to have the calendar fix by then. I am sorry to continually but you with this. Thank You so much Barry – It’s still a great plugin; Thank you for great customer service.
If you do not think this plugin will work anymore for me, could you let me know. I know it’s time to renew my yearly fee. Thanks Barry – Polly

Hi Polly: there are two problems here and you’re trying to navigate a path between them – understandably! – but there’s a limit to what we can do here.

The first issue is that when the widget is set to show 0 events it malfunctions and shows numerous posts from the current loop. That’s something we’ll almost certainly have fixed in the next maintenance release.

The second issue is that, again when set to show 0 events, it links to the wrong date. Again we hope to address that shortly, right now though there’s not a great deal we can do to help, I’m afraid – though we’ve exposed an option to show 0 events it was actually never intended to be used that way.

So, for the time being, the best course of action is probably to show events below the widget (or else temporarily remove it).

Barry – A Big Thank-You…. The latest update fixed my problem. If anyone is reading this; I just have let everyone know that the “Modern Tribe Team” is the best. They have the best Customer Support service. They stayed right with me as I was trying to figure out my error. They never gave up on me and never left me hanging. I would HIGHLY recommend Calendar Pro to anyone who is looking for a user friendly calendar but also looking to receive a wonderful Customer Support. Thank you again Barry and to all who helped in fixing this problem with the update. Polly – http://www.horseconnectioncenter.com

Excellent, we’re very happy to hear that – and thank you for the kind words.

If you’d like to do so, please do post a review over on our wordpress.org homepage as we’d love to share your experience with other users.

As it sound like we’ve resolved this (and thanks so much for your patience while we worked through it) I will go ahead and close this thread.
