GuestHello
Is there a way to enter private/hidden calendar events that can only be viewed by those who have a specific link? At our school, we need to create a Master calendar, but don’t want all the events in the Master calendar to be visible to all users. We want to use the Events Calendar for Internal Calendaring which we hope will allow us to hide internal specific events from the general public yet can be viewed by only our teaching staff.
I’ve tried using the Categories, but I can’t seem to find a way to create a specific page that will only show hidden categories.
Thanks for your time and effort. Events Calendar Pro has been a fabulous product for us so far!

GuestBrad, this sounds almost exactly what I’m trying to do. We currently use Outlook for internal information related to the online calendar, but I’m trying to consolidate it all into the online calendar (which is used to capture district events).
Would love to share ideas if this sounds similar.July 14, 2015 at 10:58 am #986363Brian
MemberHi Everyone,
Thanks for trying out our plugin.
With the Events Calendar have you tried setting the Events to Private?
They should then only show if you are a logged in to the site.
If you are looking more then that it could be possible through customization.
We maybe to help get you started on something, but for the most part that is beyond the support we can provide.
We do have this themer’s guide to help changing templates:

Let me know if you have any follow up questions.
Thanks

GuestThanks for your reply Brian
The need to consolidate all calendars into one, yet still having the ability to hide certain events is essential to us using Events Calendar Pro. Right now, we use Events Calendar for our web calendar and Outlook for our internal calendars. Much of the info between the web calendar and internal calendars is the same, but having to manage multiple calendars is causing major problems. It would be great if we could just use the Event Calendar for all our calendars. My thinking is that each calendar has a different category and then a separate page to view various categories. I could then give out the private link to view specific categories. That gives me the flexibility of filtering what the general public gets to see and what my staff get to see.
Making events private won’t work, as we do not allow our staff/users to log into the site.
Thanks

MemberHi,
It is possible to hide categories from the main event views, but not a feature we have out of the box so it would require you to add customization to the query for every view.
The plugin does create a Category View for each Event Category with the main views of month, list, map, etc…
For example if you have an event category of Lettuce the url is this:
yoursite.com/events/category/lettuce/
So that is one way to show only events from one category.
You could disable the main views that show all the events with some php and then just give out the category view links.
Cheers

GuestThanks Brian
I think that using the category link will work just fine. I’ll have to disable the category filter so the general public can’t select the private/hidden category. Seeing as how I can still use the Color Categories Plugin, there is still the option for filtering selected categories.
Thanks for the help. I’m looking forward to consolidating our calendars.
