    Good Afternoon,

Our team is wondering if it is possible to prioritize search results based on category and/or price. We are using the Events Calendar on a site for a local music festival. The client would like to assign priority to events that cost more to attend in order to drive attendance to those events. When their users search for festival events using the Events Calendar, they would like to customize the search results so that events that cost money appear first.

    Thanks!

    Hi Libby,

Thanks for your interest in our plugins! By default, events are displayed by date. Visitors can also search keywords, and with Events Calendar PRO they can search by location.

There is not a built-in way to prioritize events in the search results. That said, it might be possible with some custom development. We’ve seen users do custom featured event solutions before, although I can’t think of one that specifically handled prioritizing search results.

While we can’t provide in-depth support for customizations, we do try to assist premium users with and at least get them started in the right direction. You can probably use pre_get_posts to filter the search results as needed. You’ll also want to read through our tutorial on custom event queries. I hope that helps get you started!

    Best,

    Leah
