Preview event before submitting and additional text on event image field.

Hello,

I have a couple of questions:

– Is there a way that the person who is submitting an event can preview it before sending it? or is there another similar option? Our website accepts anonymous submissions, and the submitted events must be approved before being published. However, we believe that a preview could be useful for the person who sends us an event.

– We would like to add more text on the event image field, next to “Choose a .jpg, .png, or .gif file under 64 MB in size.”. Please, can you tell us where we can achieve this? If it is through code or overriding a template, we have no problem with that. Just let us know please what is the best way to achieve it.

Thanks for reaching out! If the user is logged in when they submit the event, then they will see a “View your submitted events” button on the event submission screen. From there, they can find their event and click “View”, which will let them see the event from the front end. However, if they are not logged in when they submit the event, then there is not a way for them to preview it before you publish it. If this is a feature that you would like to see added in the future, please do let us know over in our Feature Ideas Forum! This is what we use to gauge user interest in new features and help guide future development efforts.

To add text to the event image field, you can do a template override of the image.php file found at wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar-community-events/src/views/community/modules. Our themer’s guide has instructions on copying this template into your child theme, where you can make the edits.
