ParticipantHello 🙂
My client publishes course events for junior doctors to attend. Some of these events have acronyms or might have complicated and hard-to-spell information to enter in the event ‘Details’ box.
So, in an attempt to make sure the information they enter is accurate, if possible they would like pre-defined event information on the ‘Details’ box to select from, prior to publishing the event. Is this possible?
See my mock-up screenshot here for an example of what I mean:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4EOonSia39DR2NqanNfS1JReTg/view?usp=sharingIf the administrators had this pre-defined list to chose from, there would be no typos. It’s important there are no typos because the search engine might not return results for some acronyms or wrongly spelt course information.
At the moment, we are using basic copy and paste from Word documents but this is not entirely seamless as some courses contain variations of other courses… it all gets a bit complicated!
I hope I have explained all that okay? Basically, when entering event details, is there a way to select from information which we have predefined?
I’m open to other suggestions outside of WordPress. For example a ‘template’ HTML page uploaded to the server with selectable options which can be copied in its entirety back into the Details box. For example:
http://www.paulholdcroft.uk/test.htmlUnfortunately, the above example does not work because copying the page also copies the dropdown menu’s, which in turn appear on the published event. Not one of my finest ideas but worth a try I guess!
Hope you can help.
Kind regards,
Paul.

ParticipantThanks for reaching out, @Paul, and for the detailed description of things (and the mockup image).
I can definitely see the utility of having these sorts of features. At this time, though, it is unfortunately not possible to have something like this with The Events Calendar or other add-ons. 🙁
The only way to pull off something like this would be via extensive custom coding. We’re not able to help with custom coding ourselves, but we do have a “Customizations” page here with resources that may help you find people who can build these features for you.
Sorry to disappoint!
