ParticipantHi Tribe,
I am working on getting my calendars to show on my network site and the feed is outputting code in the feed that says “Posted in”. When I publish a feed on another site that empty category statement shows up at the top of the listing. Can you help me figure out how to remove it or hide it?October 6, 2013 at 6:15 pm #69563jebs38
ParticipantIf we don’t hide this non value, can we help RSS find the value? I think it is looking for event category.

MemberHi John,
I’m actually wondering if this might be due to another plugin or indeed your theme as I don’t see the same behaviour elsewhere.
I do see that you noted having tried deactivating all other plugins and switching to a default, unmodified theme when you created this thread: can you confirm what the outcome of that test was?
Thanks!

ParticipantI think it has to do with the custom post type. I will have to do another test on the default theme and no plugins tomorrow morning. I will get right back with you after I get some sleep.

ParticipantBarry,
On my test site, you can see the odd behavior is still at work. This is with the latest Events Calendar plugins and the latest WordPress and with the default theme and all plugins except EC and the RSS plugin deactivated. See these 2 screenshots:

OK, so there is another plugin at work here, then (the “RSS plugin”)? If you deactivate that and view the feed for an event category is the problem resolved at that point?
For reference, here’s an example of a typical category RSS URL (from our demo site): http://wpshindig.com/events/category/wordpress-meetups/feed/

ParticipantBarry,
In deactivating that RSS plugin, I would make my entire task impossible because that is what will deliver the RSS feed to the page. However, I did that just for your testing purposes and that did not have any effect.

The “Posted in” error is still there in the actual feed. I am running this install on a multisite. Would that affect the behavior?
Just so you don’t think I am wasting your time, I have been researching this for over a week now in my time off and I have tried almost every feed aggregator under the sun, including some that let me design my RSS feed. All to no avail.
I get the feeling that you guys have never used the feed functions for the calendar.

ParticipantAlso, I am running Events Calendar Pro, Community Events & Facebook Events. I do not know if your shindig site is running those or not, or if that would affect the issues. Also, it looks like some of the views do not support RSS or feeds. I cannot find the feeds for:

MemberOK, but best I can tell it does seem to have had an effect.
Here’s what I saw when I visited the URL you just posted in your last reply – I see no sign whatsoever of text reading
Posted in
– whereas if I visit a feed URL from the non-staging site I do indeed see those bits of text reading
Posted in
throughout the feed.
I’m unsure why you would be experiencing anything different from this but I’m afraid I just can’t see the problem (at least not when you have the RSS plugin disabled).
In deactivating that RSS plugin, I would make my entire task impossible because that is what will deliver the RSS feed to the page.
OK, so I do appreciate if The Event Calendar’s own feeds are unsuitable and you need this other plugin – and also assuming for the moment that it is indeed that plugin which is causing this (it seems to me it might be) – really you’d need to take this up with the author of that plugin.
On this occasion I’m just not sure there is much more we can do for you here.

ParticipantHave you ever had any experience in working with your RSS feeds?
October 9, 2013 at 6:26 am #70026Barry
MemberNot a great deal admittedly – but does my last reply make sense to you / help you to pin down whatever might be inserting the “Posted in” text?

ParticipantBarry,
What you are saying makes sense, but I am trying to recreate what you are seeing on my machine and I have not had the time to change settings and go back and forth. I will investigate this tonight when I get home.
Did you know about this page on your company’s site? https://theeventscalendar.com/how-to-add-events-to-your-rss-feed/October 10, 2013 at 7:06 am #70280Barry
MemberHi John,
Yes – that’s listed on our tutorials page – if you have any questions or concerns about the content of that tutorial though I would ask that you create a new thread π
Thanks!

ParticipantHi, John. As itβs been over two weeks since your last reply, Iβm going to close this thread. Please open a new one if you choose to pursue this further in the future.
Thanks for being part of the TEC community! π
