GuestHi!
1. I want to use the community as an intranet within our NGO, but there is no need for all the things that are there in the ‘add events’ form. NO need even for the ‘required’ description field. Just a calendar – like a google calendar. Simple as that.
Is that possible at all?2. when there is a list of events, will the monthly calendar view automatically extend or only ‘view more items’ option?
Thanks!

MemberGood evening Paul and welcome to the Events Calendar forum!
Thank you for your interest in our products.
We’ll be glad to answer your questions.1. I want to use the community as an intranet within our NGO, but there is no need for all the things that are there in the ‘add events’ form. NO need even for the ‘required’ description field. Just a calendar – like a google calendar. Simple as that.
Is that possible at all?Yes, that is absolutely possible.
You can simplify the form as much as you would like through some template customization.
In fact, we build our plugin to be easily customizable.
I would recommend reading the following to get started:- Our Themer’s guide to get a sense of how that works. Pay special attention to the community section

2. when there is a list of events, will the monthly calendar view automatically extend or only ‘view more items’ option?
By default each view has it’s own behaviours.
You can check out our demo site to see how these work. http://wpshindig.com/events/That being said, using the same techniques outlined in the themer’s guide (and by checking out our extensive collection of snippets), you can change these default behaviours to your liking.
Let me know if that helps.
Have a great day!

GuestTHANKS! Very helpful!
Yes, this seems to be ideal for our intranet solutions.
I am aware that your support questions are public. Sorry about asking you the following:
We are running a small NGO in the Philippines. See http://www.youngfocus.org . Would you be willing to participate in our advocacy and … eh… donate the Community Event add-on to us? It would help us a great deal and, obviously, enable us to do more of what we are doing out here.
Thanks. Love to hear from you guys.Paul

MemberHello again Paul,
Thank you for writing back.
I’m super stoked that my answers were helpful to you.
You pose a great question.
Actually, it turns out that we do have a non profit program.I don’t know if you will qualify or not, but I think it is totally worth a shot: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/do-you-offer-discounts-for-nonprofit-organizations/
Best of luck!
Let me know if you have any other question.
Best regards,
Geoff B.

GuestThank you so much!
Will check it out.
By the way…. I imported via CSV all our old data. Almost 8000 entries. The import option worked fine, but the agenda/event page itself refuses to load now… In other words, it’s all stuck now. Any suggestions? Thanks Geoff!

GuestP.S. Just saw that your NGO discount program only focusses on USA based NGOs… as it requires certain USA certifications. Our origin is the Netherlands and we set up an NGO in the Philippines. Won’t work… 🙁

GuestPS2. I had to move on and deleted all the 8000 with Bulk Delete and won’t try to import them anymore. It seems to cause trouble.

MemberGood afternoon Paul,
Thank you for writing back. It’s unfortunate that the NGO program won’t work out for you guys.
I imported via CSV all our old data. Almost 8000 entries. The import option worked fine, but the agenda/event page itself refuses to load now…
I’m sorry to hear that the import did not go well for you. There could be a couple of things at play here:
- Depending on your server’s specs (timeout value, allocated memory, PHP settings, etc) , that might be too many entries at a time for one import. This means potential corruption in the DataBase. You might want to experiment with breaking your import in smaller chunks (500 or 1000 at a time for example) and see how that goes.
- You might need to re-save your permalinks after an import
Let me know if that helps.
Have a great day!
