ParticipantWe recently installed the events calender pro and the community events plugin. Both work brilliantly. But we’ve noticed that, when they’re activated, our users can’t post new articles to our paper. The ‘Add New’ option doesn’t appear. When we deactivate both plugins, our writers can post new articles as usual. Any ideas on how we can fix this?

ParticipantHi, kizzinkwocha. I’m sorry to hear you’ve run into this plugin conflict.
Unfortunately, I haven’t heard of this issue before. Have you tried both plugins with a WP default theme like Twenty Twelve? Also, which plugin do you use to accept new articles?

ParticipantHi Kelly, we’ve tried it on a test site without any problem. We tried activating the plugins again (just to see what happens) and this time we were locked out of admin. Had to go to the server and disable the plugin manually.

ParticipantHello, I also have some conflicts with testimonials and faqs of my site since the update … The following message appears : Fatal error: Call to a member function is_main_query() on a non-object in /home/ttaedech/public_html/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/lib/the-events-calendar.class.php on line 2153when I go to these pages:

Thank you in advance for help … I need a solutionOctober 7, 2013 at 10:09 am #69644Kelly
ParticipantHi, kizzinkwocha. If you’re able to successfully use them on a test site, is it possible that there’s some server side caching that’s going on in your production site that’s throwing things off?
So I can get a better idea of your environment, it would be helpful if you would post the output of the System Information area at the bottom of the help page in the Events Calendar Settings. Hopefully that will shed some light on the situation.
sapapaya01, since the root of your issue may be different for the initial poster’s, we’d appreciate it if you would start a new topic for troubleshooting. Someone will then be able to work through the necessary steps to get your issue resolved. 🙂 Thanks!

ParticipantHi Kelly,
Thanks for looking into this for us. Here’s the info from the system information. It doesn’t make any sense to me but hopefully might mean something to youURL

ParticipantHi, kizzinkwocha. I apologize for the delay in getting back to you.
Can you point me at which plugin is the one that you use to have users add articles? That would help in my troubleshooting.
Thanks!
October 10, 2013 at 6:15 am #70272kizzinkwocha
ParticipantHi Kelly, we don’t use any particular plugin for this. Contributors use the ‘add new post’ option in Word Press.
October 10, 2013 at 6:22 am #70274Kelly
ParticipantDo they access that from the front or back end of the site. If on the front end, can you explain where exactly?
October 10, 2013 at 8:15 am #70295kizzinkwocha
ParticipantThey log into the paper through the backend and upload their articles
October 10, 2013 at 8:31 am #70302Kelly
ParticipantWell, that’s very interesting. So, are you saying that when The Events Calendar or Events Calendar PRO is activated, it’s not possible to add a new post from the Admin screens of your site?
October 10, 2013 at 8:42 am #70306kizzinkwocha
Participantyes exactly. I tested myself by creating an author account and, just as I was told, I couldn’t add a new post. I wasn’t sure if that was right until I deactivated the plugin and, logging on as an author, I could post new articles again.
October 10, 2013 at 3:33 pm #70448Kelly
ParticipantHi, kizzinkwocha. This is definitely a puzzling one.
Unfortunately, we have been unable to reproduce this behavior on our test sites. In our experience, if something works fine in a user’s test environment, but not in production, it usually boils down to something with their environment or hosting provider.
I’m sorry that we weren’t able to bring this to a resolution for you. I recommend that you get in touch with your hosting company and see if they might be able to shed some light on this. I hope they are able to help you get this mystery solved! 🙂

ParticipantI just upgraded my site and now I am getting the error
Fatal error: Call to a member function is_main_query() on a non-object in /home/XXXX/public_html/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/lib/the-events-calendar.class.php on line 2153
Everything was working perfect until I just updated. 🙁

ParticipantHi, ablegamers. I’m so sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with the site after upgrading.
Which plugins did you upgrade? Did you have a chance to try with only our plugins activated and using the default Twenty Twelve theme? If so, I’d like to hear what the results were.
Thanks! 🙂
