ParticipantI have a site with a large # of events (several hundred recurring weekly and month events and growing). I am currently using Events Manager but not too happy with the performance and lack of importing features. I’m looking at Events Calendar and would like to understand how it would perform with many thousands of recurring events. Are there any example sites, best practices or tips for sites with large # of events?

ModeratorHey David,
Welcome to our Pre-Sales Channel and thank you for reaching out! Performance is one of the most discussed topics around here, so I’ll provide you with the resources we’ve provided to help explain how the plugin handles large amounts of events and some measures you can take to ensure your site performance doesn’t suffer.

Ultimately, site performance is up to the site owner/developer due to the variety of factors that contribute to low page load speeds (hosting, caching, theme/plugins, etc). I do know we’re currently reviewing ways we can improve how our plugin handles large amounts of events, so keep an eye on our release notes.
I hope this helps address your question and please feel free to reply back with any more questions or comments you have. Cheers!

ParticipantThanks for these answers. I do understand the concepts of caching, and limiting display.
Which of the popular WP Caching plug-ins are known to work well and boost performance the most with Events Calendar? Which of them seem to raise issues with site owners?September 8, 2016 at 12:00 pm #1161657Hunter
ModeratorDavid,
I personally like WP Rocket – but I imagine you can get great results out of most caching plugins available. It really comes down to how well you know what the plugins are doing, which is sounds like you do!
Glad we could be of assistance and let me know if you’ve got any more questions. Cheers!

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
