Past Events single event template or custom css selector

We would like to have our previous events render differently than upcoming events, for instance, not display the calendar buttons. It would be nice if we could have a separate single-event template applied with past events only, or barring that, a css class in event that allows us to “display: none” by targeting that class. Are either possible?

The good news is that yes, in theory, this kind of a thing is possible. However, unfortunately, this kind of request isn’t a built in option, and would require some customization that we can’t provide on these forums.

We do have some resources for guidance in making those kind of changes here.
