GuestIs it possible to have events that are sub events of another event with either Event Calendar or the Pro version? Such as having a conference that stretches multiple days but has events listed under that main event for different speakers, etc.

MemberHi there! Thanks for stopping by and checking out our plugins–happy to help you out with your questions here!
Regarding the event/sub-event setup you’re inquiring about, can you clarify a bit as to how you’d like this setup to work for you? Are you looking to simply list these sub-events as details of a main event, or are you looking to, say, sell tickets or collect RSVPs for sub-events under a main event umbrella? Any details you can provide about what you’re looking to achieve will help us to steer you in the right direction!
Let us know what you’re envisioning, and we’ll see what we can do to get you there! 🙂 Thanks!

GuestWe’d be looking to sell tickets or collect RSVPs for sub-events under a main event umbrella.

MemberPerfect–thanks so much for clarifying!
Our global stock option for ticketing might be helpful for your purposes, in that case. You can create one main event to be placed on the calendar and have each sub-event listed as a separate ticket underneath that event, with details and pricing varying individually as needed. The amount of total tickets for the event can be set as a global stock value, and each sub-event ticket will be subtracted from that number. For example, if you have a main event with 100 tickets and 4 sub-events nested under that event, each ticket sale, regardless of the sub-event, will pull from the same pool of 100 total tickets, so you won’t overbook your events. You can read more about global stock on our Knowledgebase article on making tickets!
Does that sound like a solution that might work well for your needs? Let me know if you should have any other questions!

GuestThat could possibly work. Is it possible that we could change the box where you input the number of tickets you are going to purchase into a checkbox instead? Nobody would ever be buying more than one ticket to each sub event. Is it also possible to only have 1 ticket sent out for the main event via email? It would be fine for us to only have to check them in once and then just check them in manually for the other events (off a printed list or just in the wordpress admin). Sometimes these will all be free (rsvp) events as well. Specifically the purpose of this is for conference style events where the attendees will be getting a name badge when they check upon arrival and we wouldn’t really need to deal with tickets for the sub events (various speaking events and meetings).

MemberWe don’t have a built-in option to change the ticket quantity field to a checkbox, but this is definitely something that should be possible via customization–our Themer’s Guide has all the info you should need to get started with customizing plugin templates! In particular, I’d check out the templates listed under tickets/rsvp.php and tickets.php (under your e-commerce platform of choice), as those are likely to contain the fields you’re after. Our support team over in the premium forums would also be more than willing to assist with pointing you in the right direction should you have any questions as you go!
I hope that helps! As always, let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with! 🙂
