Parent and Child events?

OK so I am building a site for a Theatre company… they have event “runs” wherein the play will show on one weekend friday, saturday, sunday then on the next weekend that same play will only show on Thursday Friday then the next week they will only do matiness… so the issue is that the “event” which has the same description over and over for the season does repeat BUT the event does not repeat in a “programmatic” pattern like “every friday” or “every weekend” how can i account for this when associating the event dates of the main event? the only analogy i could come up with is wherein there is like a “parent event” which has the main description and all of the information and then the “child events” are just the date time and location is this possible to do?? if so how? If theres another way please suggest .. need to get his launched this week.

For instance one particular event “Blueberry Hill” runs like this but they are all the “main event” “Bluebery Hill”

September 20th-October 6th
Teatro Wego! Westwego, LA

October 18th-20th
Fuhrmann Auditorium Covington, LA

October 25th-27th
Northshore Harbor Center Slidell, LA

That is indeed pushing what the recurring event options can facilitate. The only workaround I can think of, though cumbersome, would be creating a custom pattern that covers all the possible days in any week and you then selectively delete instances.

That would fall flat in the case of matinees however since you’d probably then need to set an event to run twice on one day. Using the current recurring event facilities I’m afraid that isn’t possible (directly) but we do invite features requests if you’re game to make one 🙂
