Hi there, I am using the popular Page Builder for Canvas theme by Woothemes here: http://www.pootlepress.com/canvas-page-builder/ and basically the latest events widget when used within the page is not remembering the settings. Of course I have gotten in touch with the Page Builder developers to see if compatibly can be reached here however it has not been good news thus far.

With the popularity of Site Origin Page Builder and this canvas page builder I would imagine that everyone would want to support this, so I was just wondering if there was any intention on your end to find a solution here possibly? They say they definitely want it to work but they just want to find the best way to go about it. Right now it seems the widget will only work within Appearance > Widgets area and not within pages/posts at all. Is there some kind of fix here for this? I see alot of posts relating to page builder and obviously events is critical to my site so this is important now that page builder is becoming more popular. Any help here would be much appreciated as I am stranded right now. Thanks in advance.

Hi there James, thanks for getting in touch!

We try our best to support as many themes as possible and to integrate with as many other plugins as we can, but ultimately supporting everything is impossible given how many options and possibilities there are.

That said, I will make a note in our internal system that there is a compatible issue with Page Builder so it’s something we can reference.

Yes, the Widget is designed to be managed in the Appearance > Widgets setting of WordPress. This is standard WordPress behavior for widgets.

You may want to consider creating a widget area in the post and page templates you where you would like the Events widget(s) to display. Or perhaps creating a template specifically for the type of pages and posts where you want them. You wouldn’t have the page-by-page flexibility that the Page Builder plugin offers, but it will work as intended.

I’m sorry I don’t have a concrete solution for you, but I hope this helps answer your question.

    Cheers!

Thanks for the prompt reply Geoff, unfortunately I am stuck here a little with the Page Builder and on my homepage do not have the option to create a sidebar widget are so I am stuck within the widget area provider by Page Builder. Can I ask if there is any function/snippet to force an “Events List” widget to work on a page or post.

I think the main issue is that even though the widgets are supposed to work within Appearance > Widgets there are ways to code them in such a way to make them more flexible to be used inside pages and posts also. I am just reaching for a solution somehow.

Hi there James, thanks for following up!

I believe all our widgets can be embedded into any post or page manually using the WordPress the_widget() function. The widgets are coded and registered like any other default widget and should adhere to the same principles.

We’d definitely be open to looking into Page Builder integration further if you want to post a feature request–-this would also help us to meter the amount of demand that exists for integration with this particular plugin.

    Cheers!

Hi geoff, we have done some research here on the calendar pro widgets specifically and this is what we found:

“There is a “calendar-widget-admin.js” inside the Calendar Pro, in the code it uses “#widgets-right” and “.widget-content” that are selectors specific to widget screen only. There may be more like this in other files.”

Can you confirm this for us? because if this is the case then the widgets are indeed specific to the Appearance > Widgets area and we are stuck then in using them anywhere else. Thanks for your time.

    Hi there James,

Yes, there may be some selectors in there that are specific to a widget container, but I believe the functionality would still be in tact.

Have you been able to call the widget using the_widget() to test?

    Cheers!

Hi there James! It’s been a while so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread. If we can help with anything else, though, please don’t hesitate to open a new thread. We’d be happy to help. 🙂

    Cheers!
